Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Gas dryer did not heat and excessive lint inside the unit   James C. • New Boston , MI • July 20, 2017

Our 19 year old Whirlpool dryer quit heating. After checking the thermal fuse, I found the ignitor electrically open. I bought an ignitor at a local store as there was a national holiday the next day and I did not want the dryer inoperative waiting several days for shipping. I can say AppliancePartsPros is MUCH cheaper for the identical Whirlpool genuine part. While changing the ignitor, I noticed there was an excessive amount of lint in the dryer, which was caused by worn drum seals. I ordered... Read more

I watched the video that was shown on this website to slide the top back, remove the control panel, remove the front panel of the washer, remove the old gasket (the two tension springs are easy to get off, not as easy to replace), cleaned out years of gunk and soap that had built up behind the gasket for 10 years as well as under the rollers in the drum (each roller has a screw, remove it, slide the roller assembly forward and lift up to take off the rollers, and the roller can be broken down... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Water emptied out under the door of my 24 yr old GE dishwasher on to the floor.   Andrea B. • Harrisburg , PA • September 22, 2018

After researching on the APP site, I decided what I thought I would need and purchased a new Gasket, Gasket Insert, Left & Right Corner Baffles from APP. The parts were shipped immediately. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Water leak due to torn bellow tub seal.   Christopher R. • Bryn Mawr , PA • November 09, 2018

Luckily we planned ahead when building the laundry room, as we built a water catch basin and drain under the washer, but waking up to see 1-2 inches of water is never a good sign - even if it is contained. It appears that a sleeve of a shirt was accidentally caught between the door mechanism and the bellow seal. After a few hundred revolutions in the washer, the shirt knotted up and was torn free of its pinch - in doing so, it tore a quarter sized hole in the rubber bellow seal. This was,... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Door gasket was deteriorating leaving black marks on anything that touched it.   Janice C. • Piney Flats , TN • August 26, 2023

We replaced the black door seal gasket around the front of the dishwasher. The old black seal gasket had begun to deteriorate, every time it was touched black stuff would rub off onto hands and onto utensils in the upper basket. We wore some disposable gloves to remove the old seal to avoid getting the black stuff on our hands. Before entirely removing the old seal gasket we studied its placement to tell which way the new seal gasket should be placed. We didn’t want to place the seal gasket... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Just extremely old and ugly burner trays   James B. • Corinth , TX • November 17, 2014

I spent hours searching for the right trays, knowing only that the stove is GE, and what the trays look like, including exact dimensions. I ordered one set that had exact measurements, and they even explained how the measurements are taken. But the trays were larger than described by 3/8 inch, and I had to pay shipping to return them. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Due to bad door seal ice built up in bottom of freezer water then leaking out   Christopher K. • Alexandria , VA • July 19, 2016

Door gasket was easy to remove and reinstall. Original gasket was penetrated while cleaning food stuff from folds in the seal below the frig doors. (Gasket is very fragile so don't try to expand the folds while cleaning. I used my finger and a paper towel but in hindsight should have used a Q-Tip. Also, when installing the new gasket you have to be sure the seam folds over the edge of the door and doesn't get caught underneath. Read more

Tub Seal
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WH02X10383

This Tub Seal is an OEM replacement part for GE washing machines that is responsible for preventing water from leaking from the tub. This part is located at the base of the washing machine tub and creates a seal between the tub and the transmission to prevent water from leaking out during the wash cycle.

This part fixes the following symptoms-

  • Water leaking from the underside of the washing machine.
  • A musty or mildew smell coming from the machine.
  • Unusual noises during use.

Causes of a bad tub seal can range from normal wear and tear to a misaligned tub or an overloaded washing machine, which puts extra pressure on the seal. Additionally, the buildup of hard water minerals can degrade the seal's material over time.

This OEM GE part can also be used on Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore/Sears appliances.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Various noises during opertation extremely loud grinding noise during spin cycle   Dennis S. • Chelmsford , MA • November 27, 2017

I put this repair off for a long time because I knew the machine would have to be completely torn down to fix it. The repair videos give you the impression that this condition is caused by a bad 'Tub Bearing' which takes a long time to replace but only costs about $15. Don't be lulled into thinking you can fix this for $15. The 'Tub Bearing' is really only a bushing. The one I removed from my washer looked fine but I replaced it anyways. The real problem here is GE's poor design which allows a... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Leaking from the bottom of the tub door   Joseph P. • Palmyra , PA • April 10, 2015

The dishwasher is 4 years old, so I figured since it was leaking from the bottom, replacing the Tub Gasket PN: AP5690109, Splash Shield Kit PN: AP4338941 , and the bottom Door Seal/Gasket PN: AP5809675 was a good idea; the machine probably has around 1200 cycles in 4 years.
