Stator Parts

• Will not agitate

I checked three separate components, based on similar experiences of other friends. The water pump was ok and the stator look ok (no electrical burns, wiring was fine, etc.). After viewing a You Tube video of a washing machine making a similar noise as mine (metallic grinding sound when spinning), the video suggested the problem was a bad sensor. Replaced the sensor assembly (had to first remove the stator assembly in order to access the hall-effect sensor) and this solved the problem. ... Read more

First I cleaned out the pressure switch line that allows the motor to kick into gear when the water level is low enough to start the spin cycle. Second, I determined the motor was worn out and could not spin the drum so I order a new motor from Appliance Parts. They had the part in stock and it was shipped out promptly. Checked all the connection including thermal fuse and Lid switch, everything was OK. Only the motor LED light was flushing 6 times!! Secondly the agitator upper part was bad too!! So, I had to buy a new agitator and a new motor. I used the Video from Repair Clinic to replace the new motor and the Video from your website to replace the agitator. Took the back cover off, noticed the bolt holding the rotor on was broke off in the shaft which wore the stator and rotor. So I drilled out the broken bolt and extracted it with an easy out and replaced the stator the rotor and the bolt. Works great ! I maybe had 2 hours time in it and that includes taking it out of the laundry room and into the garage to work on it and back. Read more

• Burning smell

The washer was on, and I heard a faint humming sound in the laundry room. I went in and opened the washer and it was full of soapy water in the middle of its cycle and was not agitating. I also smelled a faint burning smell. At this point I figured the problem was a bad motor, as the washer is more than 20 years old. The drum was hesitating and then not turning at all with an error code. Wife also smelled "something burning", which of course is never a good sign. Ordered a new stator and had my LG washer back up and running 15 minutes after getting the $100 stator via FedEx. This is the third repair on this machine in 8 years, all parts received from APP!!!! After test that showed the tachometer signal was not there I replaced the motor.I paid for 2 day shipping and two days later I was putting the new motor in.I have to thank Appliance parts pro for the video,I had no idea how to replace this and the reason I always buy appliance parts from this Company Read more

Initially contacted an appliance repair man from a national, reputable company recommended by GE. He diagnosed a water pump problem over the phone. When he arrived to inspect the washer he then made the determination it wasn't the water pump. He attempted to run a spin cycle and received the same messge, load out of balance.
