Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dc error code   Sean G. • Horsham , PA • October 10, 2016

Samsung top load washer, about 3 years old started throwing a DC error code more and more often. Initially started with large loads. Wash would get to spin cycle, start wobbling all over the place, stop and refill then try again. Eventually it would stop and throw the DC code. As time went on, the size of the loads got smaller and smaller. Research here indicated that suspension rods probably need replacing. I bought 4 rods for replacement for about $90 in total inc. tax & shipping.... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Upper tray of maytag dishwasher not washing properly   Roger K. • Waco , TX • April 23, 2017

I discovered that the manifold was not connecting with the water supply,so the dishes in the upper tray were not being washed. This was caused because the rear hanger on the manifold had broken and it did not lineup properly into the water supply connection in the back of the dishwasher. I removed the manifold and found that it had two part numbers stamped on it. I searched on both part numbers and received a hit on the second part number. The photo looked exactly like my manifold so I... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Machine running loud grew worse until it was obvious the motor blew a bearing   Robert S. • Bettendorf , IA • February 21, 2015

We initially noticed the dishwasher running loud and failing to completely clean dishes. Research suggested issues like this were normally caused by either the main circulation motor or the drain motor. Over the next week the noise worsened, and it became obvious that the circulation motor had went (loud whirring noise whenever the spin cycle kicked in). I watched a couple youtube videos on the removal and dissassembly until I felt confident that my wife and I could handle the project. For the... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ge washer was shaking / vibrating excessively during rinse / spin cycle   Marcel S. • Orlando , FL • June 30, 2015

I replaced all 4 suspension rods and springs and now it spins very smooth. They weren't broken, just badly worn. It gave new life to my 15 year old GE Profile washer. They are basically springs, so they wear after a while. It was well worth the hour I spent fixing it. You need a good long reach to get to the back 2 and you have to take off the dampening straps and the control panel so you can gain access. All in all, I'm happy with the repair, although I though that these parts are bit... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Worn out bearings   Linda B. • San Diego , CA • November 23, 2015

After watching the video carefully and taking notes for step-by-step dismantling of the LG washer, I took it apart methodically placing each item on a table in the order removed. I was able to remove and replace the bearings with no problems following the tips and tricks. The spider did not seem to be in bad shape but since I had a new one, it seemed reasonable to replace it as well, but it was difficult to extract the old one from the drum. The bolts are assembled with weld glue, so it is a... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You E21 water not pumping out fast enough (eiflw55hmb washer)   Helmut D. • Rancho Palos Verdes , CA • April 20, 2020

Replaced pump. All components are accessible from the front of the machine. You have to remove two screws in the back that hold on the top cover, then slide the cover back. This will allow access to the screws that hold on the control panel. Remove the control panel (unplug cable), then remove the spring/wire that holds on the door bellows to the front panel (removing and installing that is the most difficult part of the job) and carefully remove the bellows from the front panel. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You My clothes dryer was making a terrible squeaking noise   Kingston C. • Redwood City , CA • November 13, 2015

After taking off the top and front panels to access the drum, it was easy to see what the problem was. The front drum support was worn through and the 3 drum support glides were gone. The rear drum bearing was also completely worn out. And while I had the dryer apart I also replaced the idler pulley and drive belt. The only hard part was putting the drive belt back on the motor shaft and idler pulley. The dryer is back to drying clothes like a new machine. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dishwasher rack rails broken and dropping bearings into tub.   Bradley R. • Chillicothe , OH • April 19, 2020

Easy project. 6-year-old appliance. If one is failing replace all 4. The plastic race that holds the bearings becomes brittle and breaks dropping the bearings into the dishwasher tub. Total project time from assembling tools, protecting the hardwood floor, removal, and installation was less than 2 hours. 1) Turn off power to the appliance. 2) Remove 2 mounting Phillips screws holding dishwasher in the cabinet. 2) use a 1/4” nut driver to remove the 2 screws holding the bottom plate from...
