Pulled the relay off of the condenser motor (3 pin connection) and removed 2 wire feeds. Reversed the procedure for the install. Ordered the new relay and decided to replace the run capacitor as well just to be safe. Appliance Parts Pros was a really good website to help identify the 2 part numbers and see pictures that confirmed they were the same as the original. Price was competitive with others. Read more

I ordered the compressor starting device kit and run capacitor to replace the burnt parts. It works right off the bat! The parts are for a Kenmore fridge/freezer. Now it was running smoothly with the additional temperatures that I replace in the Freezer side and the refrigerator side. Also,replaced the capacitors for the compressors to start the systems. Set up the temperature to 4 degree F Freezer side and 45 degree F on the Refrigerator side. Is okay now and Thank you for all the parts and all your groups help and information. Thanks again. Main Fuse did not open, only fuse for high voltage section was opened. Prior to the fuse blowing a louder than normal hum was heard from microwave for 1-2 seconds prior. Easy fix is the high voltage capacitor, so first checked the voltage across the capacitor terminals to ensure capacitor was discharged. Typically should be reasonably discharged within 30sec-1min assuming drain resistor is still in place. Removed the high voltage cap, and checked the capacitance and did not get a reading.... For an emergency fix I installed a 3 in1 kit disabling the original start cap and wiring in the original run cap to the run winding. Ordered the proper PTC and overload from Appliance Parts Pros and installed them 2 weeks later. The original start and run capacitor were good, rewired back to design specs. The original PTC had pins 1,2 and 3, the replacement had 2,3 and 4. Only wiring change was to install the red wire from pin 1 on the original PTC to pin 4 on the new PTC. Read more
