I would remove the knobs from the other switches to replace the timer one when it would break until all the knobs were broken. My wife kept blaming me for being a brute but i swear i was gentle when turning the knob. i ordered all new ones and guess what...the new knobs are reinforced with a metal ring to keep the plastic from splitting. guess it wasn't shear brute strength after all and just a inferior part.. I ordered a new soap dispenser and began a new venture in repairing my dishwasher. I turned off the breaker that suppled power to the unit. I removed all the T-15 torx screws from the inside cover except one, which my wife helped me hold in. This prevents the cover from dropping off. Then, after removing those two, we closed the dishwasher cover, and lifted off the outside cover. That being off, I saw the two wires connecting the dishwasher dispenser solinoid. Removed them. The start button broke?!? I ordered another start button and it looked exactly like the one I had. I figured it would break as well, so I might as well try to fix the broken one. I unplugged the power, removed the back of the dryer console, disconnected the start switch from the button and the dryer, depressed the 3 pop out tabs to remove the button from the dryer. Fixed it by replacing the electronic control board. Only 30 min. to fix. (See further down for effort to diagnose the problem.) Most of this "fixing time" was spent removing the control panel to access the control board that is attached to it. My freezer has the control panel located in the top center of the door. Easy fix, first I unplugged the dryer. Then removed the 6 Philips head screws on head unit back panel. Photographed wiring on timer. Removed the 1 torx screw holding the timer assy in place, the front panel knob was already off, would no longer stay on. Removed the wires from the timer assy, removed the timer, replaced it with new one, reinstalled torx screw. Reattached the wires to the positions removed from.
