Generator Start Switch Parts
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP3406108
The Door Switch is an OEM part for Whirlpool dryers. It is responsible for detecting whether the dryer door is open or closed. When the door is closed, the switch allows the dryer to operate. Conversely, if the door is open, the switch interrupts the electrical circuit to prevent the dryer from running, ensuring safety during use.
You should replace the door switch if it becomes faulty. Causes of a bad door switch can include wear and tear from regular use, electrical failures, or physical damage from repeated opening and closing of the dryer door. A malfunctioning door switch can prevent the dryer from starting or cause it to stop mid-cycle.
Symptoms of a bad door switch include:
- The dryer not starting or responding when the door is closed
- The dryer stopping mid-cycle without reopening the door
- The dryer continuing to run when the door is opened
- Error codes related to the door switch or door lock mechanism
This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Washer would not agitate or spin (bad lid switch) Lee P. • Sebring , FL • May 29, 2015
An online search of the problem (would not agitate or spin) indicated a bad lid switch. Then with model number was able to find an online video on how to change it. Burner was hard to turn on/off and almost impossible to adjust Clark A. • Austin , TX • September 01, 2014
The problem seemed to be with the switch so I watched a few youtube videos to learn more about how ranges work. After locating the correct replacement switch I ordered it on-line around 10 pm Tuesday night. The new switch arrived Thursday morning at about 10 am and I had my range back up and working like new in less that 30 minutes.
The hardest part was figuring out how to remove the slide in panel to access the switch. There were plastic washer/nuts behind each know which I was able to...

Burner in glass top range control only has off or full on modes Edward A. • Brookfield , WI • August 11, 2015
Based on internet search and data found on APPLIANCE PARTS PRO, I deduced that the "infinite control " module was most likely bad. Replaced it and all is good.
Toughest part was remembering how to disengage cooktop from down draft blower and then pulling the cook top up in within it's opening. Once pulled up, I put short 2x4's across the opening corners to support the cooktop safely while I worked on it. Next issue was figuring out exactly which screws held the glass top in place. As...

Switch burnt due to water boiling over James R. • Macon , GA • October 27, 2020
I took it apart to troubleshoot. I was pretty sure it was the switch but wanted to make sure it wasn't the element as well. Sure enough the switch was burnt at a little piece of copper protruding out the side. The plastic was blackened too which was a telling sign. The element was fine. I replaced the switch, turned on the cooktop and it worked again. Apparently, these switches are wired in series because when this one went out the rest of them wouldn't turn on either.

Range dual surface unit would only go on in "high" setting not on any other settingsje Kenneth C. • Tolland , CT • July 28, 2015
Replace dual infinity switch. The only difficulty is the terminal labels on the new switch did not match at all with the terminal labels on the original switch. The enclosed instructions were NOT helpful. But I contacted your representative, Johnny, and he was most helpful and patient. From my model number he located very specific and detailed instructions for how to wire the new switch. The rest of the job was easy. Your representative was outstanding. Thanks.

Intermittent issues with the cold water fill Urrvano G. • Rochester , MN • January 03, 2026
I replaced both the solenoid (part of the inlet valve kit) and the pressure sensor. Online research suggested my intermittent issue with the cold water fill being just a trickle and then causing an error was likely due to one or both of those two parts failing. Since they are in the same spot it was suggested (and I agree) that it is best to replace both at the same time. The hardest and most frustrating part was getting the bracket back on with the two bottom tabs being in place. It took...

First I have an LG French Door with a bottom freezer. It quit cooling. I went on line and watched some very informative You Tube videos. I trouble shot according to these videos. In these videos it shows that if there is a click coming off the compressor it has too meanings, the compressor is froze or the start relay is bad. I ohmed the compressor and had no open wires in the compressor. I then shook the relay and it was making noise. The videos stated that is there is a noise in the relay...

The burner on a Whirlpool cook top went to high heat and stayed there once the knob was turned on for the burner. Turning the knob to a lower setting did not lower the heat Jim W. • Houston , TX • June 17, 2019
Had to replace the switch for the left rear burner on a Whirlpool cooktop Model W5CE3625AB00. I turned off the circuit breaker for the cooktop and lifted it out of the countertop. It was simply held down by its own weight. There were approximately a dozen screws holding the smooth surface down onto the rest of the unit. I removed those screws, which allowed the cooking surface to lift back on a hinge in the back of the unit. Two of those screws were stripped, but I was able to remove them...
