Recommendations have fun and a bucket to prevent losing parts. First watch the videos, practice disassemble and reassemble the dryer drum. Make certain you have a good screw driver and spatula from kitchen (could not find my putty knife). So, Saturday, the washer wouldn't drain, yes, I tried the Drain/Spin cycle. So I took the clothes out, rinsed them out twice in the laundry sink and dried them. The dryer is a Kenmore Laundry Center, model 417-99570150. Bought in 1998, so it is an older model. Not wanting to buy the newer ones that are out now. We opted to fix the Kenmore. Before we replaced the board, my wife tried to replace just the element. We had one we had ordered several years ago when this same thing happened. I think I have a lemon of a dryer. I keep having to pay someone to replace my heating element about every year. So I already had the heating element, but I thought I would replace the thermostat and the limiter also. Yes, I am a 46 year old mom, and I replaced all three items. Thank goodness to youtube! Ha! I first felt along each heating element (bake and broil) hoping to find a rough or blistered place on them. But they were both smooth with no irregular places. (replacing the elements would have been the easiest and cheapest repair. Pulled the back off the range (unplugged, of course) - checked wiring. There were no loose connections or burned wiring.
