Agitator barely moving clothes? Worn agitator dogs prevent the ratcheting action needed for proper washing. Simple DIY fix in under 30 minutes.
I had previously replaced the pump about 1 year ago. That was not the problem. Still leaked the same way - intermittently, but always in the center of the washer onto the floor. None of the hoses were leaking - no evidence of corrosion or water mineral residue at any of the hose fittings. So, it must have been something else. I studied the parts diagram for the washer tub assembly and concluded the source of the leak almost had to be the outer tub's Centerpost Gasket. It was really the... Read more
Washer leaking water underneath or not draining? This drain pump removes water during the cycle. DIY repair typically takes 10-15 minutes with basic tools.
With much trepidation, I Googled leaking washing machines and deduced that our problem was likely (but not certain) that we needed to replace the direct drive washer pump. After viewing the AppliancePartsPros video, I decided that ordering the $30 part was worth the risk (vs a $120 plus service call). The pump arrived w/in 2 days and my wife and I experienced an enjoyable bonding experience installing it :). But it's now working great and there is no leak. ... Kudos to AppliancePartsPros for a... The Suspension Spring is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It helps support the washer tub and absorbs shock as the tub moves during the wash and spin cycles, ensuring stability and reducing vibrations. This spring is essential for maintainin
When I removed the cabinet, all of the springs appeared in tact, I had already replaced the counter balance spring so I knew that was not the issue. None of the suspension springs or brackets were broken but they did look worn/rusty so I replaced all of the brackets (2 in front and 1 large in back), all of the suspension spring retainers, and all of the suspension springs and it fixed the issue! I plan to also replace the Self leveling leg spring which is an easy fix since it's on the back of... Read more
Washer won't start, agitate, or spin? A faulty lid switch is the likely cause. This safety switch is easy to replace in under 5 minutes with basic tools.
First I checked the circuit breakers and power to the outlet, then next wanted to check the lid switch, but it wasn't where I had found it on older models. I could hear it clicking on and off as I raised and lowered the lid, but it wasn't visible. I drained the tub through a siphon hose to lighten the machine, so I could slide it away from the wall to better see. Couldn't see the switch anywhere and decided it must be hiding in the raised console, but was unsure of how to attack it without... Read more

I had replaced the Agitator cams a couple of times already due to my brother-in-law overloading the machine which stripped the teeth off of the cams. I also noticed the agitator seemed to 'wobble' and made 'knocking' noises quite a bit. I reviewed the video on the Appliance Parts Pros web site, disassembled the agitator and cleaned everything up, which helped a little, but not enough. Figuring the agitator itself was worn out also, I looked up and ordered all the parts for the upper agitator on... Read more
Seals the center post/agitator shaft to prevent water leaks during wash cycles. Replace if you notice pooling water under your washer. Confirm fit with your model.
The Washer Drive Block is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This component is situated between the washer's transmission and the inner tub, playing a key role in transferring the rotational motion from the motor to the tub.
Replaced washer drive block and Cam. I called around and finally settled on Appliance Parts Pros because they helped diagnose the problem, told me what parts to replace and had videos to show me how to do it. In completing the repair I had to remove quite a few pieces of hardware in order to get at the part I was to replace. The videos helped but there is a learning curve while you familiarize yourself with the parts and figure out how the remove them. Eventually I got to a large nut that,... Read more
Fix a washer that won't spin or agitate with a new transmission. Common symptoms include loud clunking noises or clothes staying wet after cycles.
Using appliancepartspros.com site took washer apart to diagnose bad clutch. The clutch was bad but once inside I noticed grease everywhere and after a quick online chat with rep. determined gear case was leaking and needed replacement. Replaced clutch & gear case. Followed video tutorial and took a little more than 30 minutes start to finish for me - I have no experience. The most difficult part for me was actually just getting the retainer ring (little wire) to secure clutch in place-took... Read more
Replacement tub suspension pads for washing machines. Install under the tub to cushion and stabilize during spin cycles. Replace if cracked or missing.
First went through the troubleshooting guide on the website and read the various stories and watched the repair videos for replacing the springs and suspension pads. Then before ordering any parts disassembled the machine only to the point of removing the cabinet to see if there were any obvious issues. The springs appeared OK but I couldn't tell of they were fatigued or not and all were in place but the tub suspension pads were definitely worn out. I then put the machine back together and went... The Direct Drive Washer Motor is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines This
All's well that ends well, but the getting there was a bit of a pain. The web site suggests 3 possible causes for my problem (incl. the burning smell). I began with the first two since they were inexpensive compared to the motor, which was the third cause (and also the least often cause). There is no way to visibly tell if the motor is bad or not. After replacing the clutch assembly, which did have some plastic pins broken off) and the motor coupling (which actually looked fine, but the... Read more
Washer won't agitate or makes clunking noise? This thrust washer reduces friction in the transmission system. Easy DIY repair with video guide.
Pulled the washer apart (using your videos as a refresher) and found that the plastic coupling between the motor and the transmission had failed. Searched for parts vendors and found your site. Ordered the coupling on-line and went back down to clean up the machine. In the cleaning process I found a damaged thrust washer for the upper agitator and broken drive dogs for that same agitator. I went to the website to see if I could augment my initial order. I did not want to pay shipping costs... Read more
