This rubber hose connects the wash tub to the drain pump, carrying water from the tub to the pump during the drain and spin cycles. It is secured with clamps at each end. Replace this hose if your washer is leaking water underneath, not draining properly, or if the hose shows signs of cracking, softening, or blockage.
Repairing the problem was the easy part. Diagnosing the problem took a little more time. To diagnose the problem, it took longer because I first cleaned the Drain Pump trap from all the material it collected. Socks, hair pins, and other materials that were not cleaned from pants pockets. Unscrewed console and tilted it back. Then removed clips for machine skin. Rocked it back slightly to access the tub side hose. Removed water inlet valve assembly and removed from the valve. Prior to ordering parts I had pulled the pump strainer basket and cleaned it out. There was both soft and hard scale build up. The tub-to-pump hose was also pretty crusty/slimey. I searched YouTube and found several videos that helped me diagnose the most probable cause. I learned how to open the cabinet and access the parts from the videos. I ordered a new discharge hose and a replacement pump. The parts came in the next day with the standard shipping option! It turned out that the old discharge hose was blocked. Took the old part off and fitted the new one. I used the old plastic ball from the old hose and it worked fine. Next time I would replace the original clamp with a 4 inch hose clamp. The original clamp is way tooooooooooo hard to put back on....with a different clip it would be a 10 minute job at most. Read more
