Get your dryer spinning smoothly again - install the Whirlpool 341241 OEM Drum Belt in minutes.
Unpluged dryer first. Then took the lint filter out and removed the two philips screws inside the lint filter lid. Then take a paint scraper just under the top of the dryer two inches from the left front corner and pushed in a little to release the snap connector and did the same on the right side. Then lifted top over. Then take a 5/16 socket or nut driver and remove the two screws on on the left inside panel, then the right side. Lean front out a little and remove the two wires one the back... Read more
Dryer won't heat or flame shuts off after 15 seconds? Gas valve coils control gas flow to the burner. Takes about 30 minutes to replace both coils.
I'm starting with a quick background on my dryer. About 18 months ago the belt on the dryer started slipping and squealing. I had a can of belt dressing spray so I popped the top open and sprayed the belt. It actually worked for about a year before it started squealing again. For the next 6 months I had to spray it more and more often. Then the clothes stopped drying. Obviously, at this point, I had to get off my lazy ass and fix the dryer. Searched my dryer's model number on the internet and... Read more
Connects the motor to the drum for tumbling. Replace when stretched, worn, or broken causing the drum not to turn. Confirm fit with your model number.
I went to the local Home Depot and Lowes, but they did not have the parts because they do not carry parts for the items they actually sell to people. Jumped on the phone and did a quick search for parts and came across appliancepartspros.com. I put in the make and model of my dryer and all the parts for the dryer where listed. I ordered the items on a Wednesday night. I opted for the two day shipping. I thought the items would be at my house by Friday but they did not arrive until Monday. I... Read more

I used Fixya as an initial source describing my problem. I got two responses which were very helpful. One that the "coils" were probably the problem. Two, that the problem could be the thermostat or a thermistor in the dryer. I verified that AC was coming from the timing control, that both the two terminal and three terminal coils, the igniter and shut off thermostat all had continuity. I then applied AC directly to the coils: the two terminal coil ""clanked" and I interpreted that as the coil... Read more
This roller supports and stabilizes the dryer drum as it rotates. Replace if worn, cracked, or causing noise during operation. Installs behind the drum.
I pulled the dryer away from the wall and unplugged it. Then I used a 5/16 nut driver and removed the 2 screws in the bottom front panel and pulled it off. Next I removed the 2 5/16 screws holding the front door panel and pulled it down far enough to disconnect the wires for the light and the wires on the door switch. Then , using a putty knife I popped the springs holding the top and control panel then pulling the top up and resting it against the wall. Now I started my repair by laying on... Read more
Dryer won't start or heat? The thermal fuse trips when overheating occurs, often from clogged vents. Easy DIY fix with our video guide.
The heating element had a break in the heater coils, so I replaced it with a new one from Appliance Parts Pros. I also replaced the thermal fusible link and thermostat switch because they were so cheap it just made sense to go ahead and do it while I was in there. I also cleaned every nook & cranny in the dryer, then cleaned out the vent piping- which was about 100% clogged. The video's of how to tear down a dryer were indispensable to this repair - along with APP's always having the right... Read more

Dryer won't start or runs with door open? This door switch kit restores safety shutdown function. Simple clip-in repair takes 15-30 minutes. Video included.
The timer knob simply pulls off the shaft with a solid, steady pull. Cleaned the timer cavity of lint/dust buildup. Aligned the keying flat of the shaft and knob and pushed the new knob on with careful, steady pressure until it was obviously seated. No tools required other than a vacuum. The door switch would sometimes not shut the dryer off when the door was opened. New switch came with new fast-on connectors. Replacement required opening the top cover of the dryer and hinging it up. This... Read more

Dryer running too hot or overheating? The hi-limit thermostat cuts power to the heating element when temps exceed safe limits. Easy DIY replacement.
Dryer not heating or taking multiple cycles to dry? This heating element kit restores heat generation. DIY-friendly repair, typically done in minutes.
I had to pop the lid up from the front with a screw driver, and behind the element was a metal piece, a heat shield, that had two screws that had to be removed from the back. The little part with the blue round tag (part of the kit that came with the element) was easily removed with one screw. Likewise, the element had a single longer screw holding it in on the right, and on the left a little rod was sticking through a hole in the metal, and you can merely move it to the side and up the slot,... Easy fix, I spent more time thoroughly cleaning all the lint. Read more
Replace your dryer's drum felt seal to stop air leaks, reduce noise, and prevent clothing stains. Fits between drum and bulkhead. Confirm fit with model.
After replacing thermal fuse once and having it fail a second time, I had to dig a little deeper to uncover the problem. I checked for blockage in the vent but everything was clear. I did, however, find that the drum had some up and down play in it. After closer inspection, I could see that the front drum seal was actually worn to the point that I could see a gap between the seal and the drum. I figured that the gap in the seal was letting air in and not letting sufficient air flow through the... Read more

Upon removal of the lower inspection panel on the front of the machine, my 20 year old son thought the motor was bad by the smell. But he did discover what turned out to be the belt tensioner pulley laying inside the machine. After he pronounced it dead, without a thought to the idler pulley, I looked at the machine and determined the lack of movement was due to the idler pulley having "fallen" off the shaft by looking at the illustrated parts break down provided on this website. Ordered the... Read more
