Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Kitchen aid architect ii microwave turntable stopped rotating   Stephanie M. • Colorado Springs , CO • March 25, 2017

First, it was going to cost $95 for an appliance guy just to look at it! I figured there would be an upcharge on the parts + labor on top of the $95, so I took a chance & decided my husband & I could fix it cheaper; we were right, but it was a 3 week process (luckily, we have another microwave in the basement we were able to use in the meantime). I googled the microwave model #, then price checked the same item I thought we needed; printed off the diagrams of the various microwave "systems" &... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Whirlpool microwave door pushbutton broken would not open door   Marnie M. • San Jose , CA • January 24, 2015

Found the fix description online - purchased the Door Latch Bracket. I did need to remove the Microwave from the cabinet it was built into. Required removing the screws at the four corners of the trim piece surrounding the microwave. Then removed the oven with the frame bracket attached - removed the bracket, then needed a star shaped secure screwdriver to remove the microwave skin around the sides and top (remove the secure screws from the back and slide the skin toward the back and off). ... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Microwave cut out while cooking all power lost including otr light and fan   Matthew J. • Bethel , CT • December 28, 2017

Let me first say that I did not intend to fix this microwave due to the age, however there are literally zero new microwaves that are small enough (height and depth) to fit. After uninstalling microwave I tried simply replacing the fuse hoping that it just got tired after 21 years of service. Upon testing the fuse blew about 2 seconds after pressing start. Due to another review on appliancepartspros.com I suspected the HV capacitor. I was able to confirm this through testing with a... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Did not turn on   Allen G. • Santa Ana , CA • October 29, 2014

Replaced a bad thermostat. The factory thermostat had a bad internal connection (one contact was loose) and that caused the insulation to melt with the eventual failure of the thermostat. I ordered the exact replacement part from "AppliancePartsPros.com" and quickly saved the cost of a new built in Microwave oven. Read more
