The Lid Switch Assembly with Fuse is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It ensures that the washer's lid is securely closed before the machine operates, preventing the washer from running with the lid open.
Over time, the lid switch assembly can fail due to regular wear and tear, electrical issues, or damage to the switch mechanism. Exposure to moisture or repeated opening and closing of the lid can also contribute to its deterioration.
Symptoms of a bad lid switch assembly include:
- The washer not starting or stopping mid-cycle
- The machine not spinning or agitating
- No response when trying to start a cycle
- The washer filling but not advancing to the next cycle stage
This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Bad lid switch assembly Jim A. • Navarre , FL • March 15, 2014
Removed front and top panels of washer, removed old switch assembly. Then mounted and hooked up new switch assembly, put panels back on, turned on power and unit now works fine. Thanks for the quick delivery on the part...our total machine down time was only 36 hours. Biggest difficulty was getting the machine out of its position to work on it!
