Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Washer would only spin.   Byron V. • Bellevue , MI • February 04, 2020

Found the wonderful parts diagrams you most generously share online and a couple of YouTube videos . I determined it should be repairable. In my cast the agitator shaft was frozen (rusted) in place. I was very fortunate to have been able to eventually remove it with the use of a lot of BP penetrating oil and heat. Long and short the replacement parts fit perfectly and the washer is running like new. Special thanks to the online support make my repair possible. Read more

Admiral Lid Switch Assembly With Fuse
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: 12001514

The Lid Switch Assembly with Fuse is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It ensures that the washer's lid is securely closed before the machine operates, preventing the washer from running with the lid open.

  • No response when trying to start a cycle
  • The washer filling but not advancing to the next cycle stage

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Cleaned exhaust duct, but only from the dryer/laundry room side. Replaced thermal fuse. Unit worked for about two loads and thermal fuse blew again. This time I cleaned the exhaust vent on the roof of my 2-story house. It was found to be partially obstructed and I was able to remove a significant amount of lint from it. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dryer stopped heating   Mark L. • Parkersburg , WV • March 30, 2020

Our heating element had broken coils. Typed model number in to see which parts were likely to fix the problem. AppliancePartsPros told me exactly which parts to try. For the cost, it seemed the best decision was to order the complete Heating Element Assembly, rather than risk needing the two smaller parts as well. Decided to order new vent as well. The parts arrived super fast and the on-site video showed step-by-step how to install the new part. From diagnosis to drying laundry in less than 48... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dryer motor failed   Randall S. • Huntsville , TX • October 03, 2014

I've read several reports about how "easy and quick" it was to replace the motor. All I can say is, "nonsense". It wasn't as easy as others reported, but for someone with decent tool skills, it was a very doable home repair - just be prepared to spend some time on it. First, the motor needs to be accessed from the FRONT of the dryer. This means removing the two cover panels to access the interior. NOTE: take photos as you go of how all interior pieces for together to make reassembly easier -... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Pretty much everything   Charlotteanne Y. • Kingston , IL • August 06, 2018

Here's the story. All my appliances except the dryer broke. Yeah. talk about bad luck. First I tried to fix the refrigerator. Replaced both motherboard and inverter board. Now it wakes up but the compressor does not kick in. Need another part. The washer, well I have to pull out the sink to get enough room to pull out the washer to fix it. Since the refriigerator is still in the middle of the kitchen, I don't need to tear apart another room. Nevertheless, let me say this, I love my "older"... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You No agitation.   Susan B. • Apple Valley , CA • August 09, 2020

This was some repair! My SG1000 stackable is over 30 years old and was purchased second hand. I've replaced many parts in the dryer section, but besides a water inlet, this was my first repair to the washer. All of a sudden it started making a terrible noise and was not agitating the clothes. The spin cycle worked fine. I first replaced the two belts on the bottom, but when I removed the old ones I realized they did not look terribly worn and weren't the cause.
