Amana Refrigerator Parts

The rubber seal/gasket was torn on our KitchenAid refrigerator right side door. I purchased the replacement and followed the directions/recommendations of how to prepare the new gasket for installation. When it's removed from the shipping box, it does have wrinkles and preparing it is a must. I set it out on our tile floor and then used a heat gun (low setting) to warm it up and massage it. It took me about 15 minutes, stopping and restarting as I let the rubber come back to it's desired shape.... Read more

Originally the dryer was squeaking a lot, so I purchased a new belt tensioner, but the original tensioner was an old-style no wheel tensioner, so that wasn't the source of the squeaking. Did some online research and everything pointed to the fact that moisture was getting into the freezer and therefore the seal was not doing it's job. I ran my finger along the seal and sure enough I detected cold air coming out of one corner of the seal. I ordered the appropriate part from Appliance Parts Pros (APP) but decided to test my diagnosis by installing thin weather stripping in the affected area. Toughest part of this repair is figuring out how to get things apart. Amana doesn't provide you a repair manual showing how to disengage the various plastic covers. Initially disassembled the bottom freezer compartment so I could get to the evaporator coils; they were completely frozen in block of ice, restricting air flow to the fridge above. After taking the two vegetable drawers out from above, the glass shelf, the pantry drawer and the cross support for the glass, you can get to the two recessed hex head screws holding the end cap. You will need to transfer the metal drawer slide to the new cap, but it doesn't need to come off first. When the end cap is loose, gently rotate it toward the front. Once the humidity control slide is at 90 degrees from the back of the refrigerator, the tab holding it in place will slip out easily.... Read more

Ice Door Kit, Control Bracket, and Ice Dispenser Guide were purchased. I followed two videos on replacing the parts. The Control Bracket WP2180226 / AP6005965, was straight forward and I discovered a snapped pin on the old bracket causing an electric switch to be out of place... that repair was easy. After reviewing the 'how to' video on AppliancePartsPros.com, I unplugged the refrigerator and removed the back cover to access the motor. I then unplugged the wiring and removed the bad motor. I cut the clip plug and wired it to the new motor, installed the fan blade from the old motor and re-installed the new motor. We watched a "youtube" video on how to fix a fridge door seal and even though this particular model fridge was not the same...it helped to see how to fix it. It took me 20 minutes to remove and replace the new door seal. The part ordered was ordered and delivered next day which was great!! Read more

Our Kenmore (Whirlpool) refrigerator's ice maker had stopped making ice. I searched YouTube and found a repair videos for this exact problem, finding one with a similar refrigerator and the identical ice maker. I watched the Appliance Parts Pros repair video and decided to remove the front panel to diagnose the problem. While the repair video is excellent, I could not remove the ice/water dispenser front panel with a putty knife. On my model, 106.56234400, there is no clip that can be released by sliding a putty knife up under the front panel.
