The refrigerator water dispenser lever arm activates water flow when pressed and returns to position when released. Replace when the lever becomes stuck, breaks off, or fails to properly activate the water dispensing mechanism.

The water dispenser stopped working on my Sears Kenmore (Whirlpool) side-by-side refrigerator and after much research on the web I purchased the parts that commonly failed for this condition. I should have first taken the dispenser assembly apart but I didn't--it looked a little too intimidating to do twice. As it turns out, what actually broke was the plastic assembly that holds the water actuator switch in place so the dispenser lever could not strike it. I was able to secure it in place...
