Well, I got online and found several YouTube videos on how to check what was happening. I have a multimeter and tools. I first replaced the external water filter just to make sure it wasn't that, and it needed it. That wasn't the problem. I then removed the water inlet valve which was really easy. I didn't disconnect the water lines but I did unplug the power plug. Using the ohms setting on the meter, I tested the coil of the valve solenoid. It wasn't open. I checked the voltage at the plug... The only problem was that my existing wiring harness was affixed to the inside of my refrigerator, whereas in the video, the existing cord was shown as readily disconnectable, so I was unsure how to proceed. Initially I noticed the crusher drum was cracked and broken so I replaced the drum the retaining nut on the end of the auger and the circlip and washer. it worked fine for a time and then the drum began free wheeling. upon further inspection I discovered the retain nubs on the auger had worn down allowing the blade to slip down the auger body. so I replaced the auger, drum, drive blade, and drive cam. After about three months of returning to my youth, filling ice cube trays, I decided to venture into the freezer and yank the old ice maker from its mounting. Since this was the third time this very ice maker had decided to stop functioning, it was time to get a replacement. Plastic drum was broken and wasn't pushing the ice through the crusher teeth. Received my part pronto and made the repair. Was an easy fix, took about 15 min from start to finish. After spending some time the previous weekend unloading the freezer and climbing in to see where the problem was I determined that the motor on the ice maker was faulty. It was not until the Friday after the weekend did I get a chance to place the order to have the assembly delivered. My frig is a year and a half old, Frigidaire with french doors and freezer drawer. It has an upper ice maker for the door in the frig and a bottom ice maker in the freezer drawer. After noticing the flood, I shut off the water supply to the frig and cleaned up the mess.
