Crosley Refrigerator Temperature Control, Cold Control

• Fridge too cold
• Fridge runs too long
• Won't start
• Freezer section too warm

The 20 year old unit still serves us well, looks good and has been kept in good repair. The condenser fan had stopped so I removed, cleaned and oiled that motor. The decision was made to make an upgrade to the evaporator motor and control units so that the appliance could reasonably be expected to have extended service life. This was a 2000 model so rather than just replace the defrost timer which was visibly burnt on the terminals, we just did everything. The cold control, defrost timer, thermostat, defrost heater and the compressor capacitor were all replaced. I had the same issue on my older unit and tore it apart replacing one item at a time over a three month period so on an older one i suggest do it all while it is apart. Read more

This issue was with a refrigerator that we acquired with a house we bought. The freezer was cold, making ice well, overall doing great. The refrigerator was not cold however. I had an on-linew chat with an appliance part pro and told him my problem..he suggested it may be the temperature control..i ordered the part right then and there..it arrived in 2 days! i changed the part..and it works fine..but thats half the story! My fridge was often reaching 60-70 degrees but would work well when motor/fans were running; it just wasn't cooling regularly. I checked the coils, defrost, damper, and fans, and they all seemed to work, so that only left the cold control in terms of what I was willing to try to fix. (It wasn't worth messing with the compressor as the fridge is 12 yrs old.) The freezer would cool down to 0 degrees after being plugged in but once it hit zero the freezer failed to keep it there, it would warm back to room temp. I ordered the cold control knob and it came very quickly! It did come with directions but failed to address what terminal you plug the black and yellow wires into.
