• Leaking

Thought leak was coming from icemaker but refrigerator was making ice just fine. had puddle on floor just below freezer door. upon closer inspection realized leak was coming from drain line. there were 2 pieces of tubing and the connector. leak was coming from where tubing goes into connector. wanted to replace it. didn't know what it was called. did live chat with someone I think was named James. he sent me diagrams and I could identify the part. once identified I ordered it. boom.... After trying to stop leaks with glue, i figured I should replace the drip pan, It took a little effort to get the fan out of the way but once that was taken care of the rest was simple. Total repair took slightly over 1 hour. Would have taken longer had I not already have taken the freezer apart on a previous occasion. Therefore I already knew the sequence and was able to disassemble it quickly. A little tricky getting the part out but easier to get it in. SImple repair for anyone mechanically inclined. Read more

The ice dispenser chute door had not been sealing for years. The ice cubes on the lower portion of the ice bin would melt enough eventually to then freeze up into a big, amalgamated blob of ice due to ambient air coming up the chute. This melt-then-freeze would happen, to the extent the chute froze to its own closure. Despite service technician visits over a period of six years nothing they did resolved the issue. Replaced the water tube that went from the plastic tubing to the ice cube tray. Found that even though it was the same exact length as the original, there was only an extremely small gap from the end of the tube to a splash board. This may have been the root cause of my problems. Read more
