Removing cabinet panels to access burner was the major challenge since every one seems to be different. This one, two screws at back allowed top to raise and be removed, Two more screws at front and two cables disconnected removed control panel. Next, pull the dryer away from the wall to gain access to the back panel. Remove the back panel and locate the gas valve assembly. Remove the mounting screws that hold it in place. After removing the screws use both hands to pull and release the old valve assembly. Set it off to the side and proceed to install the new one by refastening the screws that hold it in place.This replacement part is sold individually and is compatible with Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Sears/Kenmore brand washers.
Frigidaire Gallery gas dryer from maybe 15 years ago. Based on the fact the the smell was only in the dryer, I concluded it must be the gas valve failing to completely seal when closed.
