This wave guide cover protects the microwave's waveguide opening and helps keep food particles, grease and debris away from the magnetron and waveguide channel. Replacing a damaged cover helps prevent arcing and maintains even cooking. What it does:

Shields the waveguide opening to protect the magnetron and internal components from contamination
Prevents food splatter and grease from entering the waveguide channel
Helps reduce arcing, sparking or burning noises caused by a cracked or charred cover
Contributes to more consistent microwave heating when intact and properly installed

What's included: One wave guide cover Install notes:

Disconnect power or unplug the appliance before any service to avoid electrical shock
Handle the cover carefully—replace if cracked, warped, burned or covered in heavy residue
Keep mounting screws and any retaining clips; use only OEM-specified fasteners for reinstallation
Do not operate the microwave with foil or metal tape covering the waveguide; replace the cover if it cannot be secured properly

First, please learn how to judge what "Uhhh, Uhhh" means from your wife. Then look over to at what she is apparently looking at to see fire inside one of the microwaves. Walk over, open the door, pick up the on fire newspaper and dump it in the sink. She had placed the folded newspaper up against the emitter.
