This thermal cutoff (TCO) is a temperature-sensing safety device that stops power to the heating circuit, protecting the unit from heat damage and preventing unsafe operation. It's used in heating assemblies. What it does:

  • Opens the circuit when temperatures exceed safe limits to prevent overheating.
  • Stops the heater or heating element from running if a fault causes excessive heat.
  • Common symptom: no heat or intermittent heating when the TCO has failed.
  • Can be checked for continuity with a multimeter to confirm failure.
What's included: One thermal cutoff (TCO) as pictured. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before inspecting or replacing any thermal safety device.
  • Locate the TCO on the heater/air path assembly per your model's service instructions.
  • Test the part for continuity before replacement to confirm it's defective.
