This top burner valve switch mounts to a surface burner gas valve and closes the ignition circuit when you turn the knob to Lite. Replacing a worn switch restores dependable sparking and stops intermittent or nonstop clicking at the burners.
I changed out the white burners for black ones which will be easier to clean. This is a simple matter of removing two screws on each burner. The one igniter switch turned out to be okay, but was not fully seated on the valve shaft. As to lighting off issues, the new burners helped, but the most improvement came from removing the burners and cleaning the orifices that supply gas to the burner tubes with a bit of fine wire. When the burner failed to come on, I was not sure if it was the burner or the control unit. After doing some research on line, I learned how to test both components. Removing an disassembling the cook top was easy. I quickly identified that the burner failed. Testing it will a multi-meter showed a break in the burner element. I then checked on line for a replacement burner element. The prices ranged greatly, by more than $50. I ordered from ApplicancePartsPros.com. The burner element... Read more

I ordered a new burner and switch. Received all parts in only one day. Shut breaker, pulled out the range to work on it. Removed the front panel to replace the switch first which was the easy part of the job, only 6 screws. Installed new switch, turned on the breaker to test and found that the burner heated up proving that only the switch was bad. Shut breaker again, reinstalled front panel, reinstalled the range and turned the breaker back on. Just in time for Easter dinner! Returning... Read more

I replaced the Igniter switch, two control valves and one holder/orifice (because I couldn't get the screws out and decided to just replace it rather than re-tape it and get new screws).
