Jenn-Air Range Switch

Jenn-Air Top Burner Valve Switch (Spark Ignition)
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WPY704513

This top burner valve switch mounts to a surface burner gas valve and closes the ignition circuit when you turn the knob to Lite. Replacing a worn switch restores dependable sparking and stops intermittent or nonstop clicking at the burners.

  • Mounts on the surface burner valve and closes the ignition circuit at the Lite position
  • Signals the spark module to fire the igniters so the burner lights
  • Helps ensure quick, consistent burner ignition
  • Common symptoms: no spark at a burner, intermittent ignition, or continuous clicking with knobs in Off
What's included: 1 top burner valve switch Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and shut off the gas supply before servicing
  • Pull off the burner knob and remove the control/manifold panel to access the valve switch
  • Transfer wires one at a time and align the switch correctly on the valve stem; avoid overtightening
  • Reassemble, restore power, test for spark with gas off, then relight and check for leaks

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You One burner switch was failing to fire the igniter two burners were failing to light and the burner cones had become unsightly over the years   Gregory G. • Salcha , AK • January 07, 2018

I changed out the white burners for black ones which will be easier to clean. This is a simple matter of removing two screws on each burner. The one igniter switch turned out to be okay, but was not fully seated on the valve shaft. As to lighting off issues, the new burners helped, but the most improvement came from removing the burners and cleaning the orifices that supply gas to the burner tubes with a bit of fine wire. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Broken fan switch   Darrell Q. • Leesburg , VA • May 09, 2016

This replacement part looks nothing like the original because the original is two parts, the replacement is one part. The original has a switch with 3 wires coming out of it that go into a "block" screwed to the bottom tray. And this "block" has 2 wires that come out of it going to the fan. With the replacement, the block is eliminated and the 2 wires go directly to the switch. Easy install. Read more
