This is the upper heating element located at the top of the oven cavity that provides high, direct heat for broiling. It glows red-hot to sear and brown food placed on the top rack. We pulled the back off the appliance got out our multi meter. We checked the thermocouple and the two heating elements and all seemed to be in good order.
