Hex nuts can be susceptible to thread galling or seizing, which can cause it to function improperly. This lock washer is used frequently for a number of applications on power yard equipment. The size, 5/16, is the default for many small engine housing and manifold applications. Lock washers are used with machined bolts to fasten engine blocks to the housing of the equipment being used. The compressed washer is able to handle the constant vibration of the small gasoline engine without losing the seal between the screw or bolt and the housing. Typically these lock washers only need to be replaced when they are misplaced during repairs or when the screws that attach them have to be chiseled or cut away, meaning the washers are destroyed as well. These OEM certified replacement washers have been manufactured to the same specifications as the originals they are replacing. In addition to lawn mowers, lock washers of this type and size are frequently used on blowers, lawn tractors, cultivators, snowblowers, and trimmers. Brands compatible with this type of washer are Murray, Husky, Poulan, Bolens, Yard-Man, Cub Cadet, Troy-Bilt, Yard Machines, MTD, and Ryobi.
Flat washer for lawn tractors and outdoor power equipment. Increases screw bearing surface area. Replace if worn, damaged, or missing during repairs.
This is a bushing made from black plastic with a cleft down the middle to provide enough flex for easy insertion. It has a flanged design, which means it won’t easily pop out after installation, even under stress from constant vibration. The bushing’s primary purpose is to protect wires and cables from damage as they pass through a channel. As such, the material is fairly durable and does not need to be replaced under ordinary circumstances. That said, there are some situations in which it can become damaged. For one thing, it’s easy to damage while repairing the wires or cables that run through the bushing. If the bushing does need to be replaced, it requires disconnecting any cables or wires that run through the bushing. Pop out the old bushing with a rubber mallet, install the new bushing the same way, reconnect the wires, and the repair is complete. This is an OEM part sourced directly from MTD, and it is sold individually. It was initially used on snowblowers but has also been used on lawnmowers and lawn tractors.
A ball bearing is a rolling element bearing that uses balls to maintain the separation between the bearing races. This part is designed for use with outdoor lawn and garden power equipment such as snowblowers, chippers, shredders, and tillers. It is compatible with products by brands such as Craftsman, Cub Cadet, Ryobi, Troy-Bilt, Yard Machines, MTD, Huskee, Montgomery Wards, Bolens, Yard-Man, and MasterCut.The ball bearing part is crucial because its purpose is to reduce rotational friction while supporting radial and axial loads. Without functioning ball bearings, valuable outdoor equipment would fall apart and quickly stop working. That is why it is important to get any ball bearings replaced if they are worn out or malfunctioning. This ball bearing is made out of metal. The ball bearing is an original OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer, MTD. It is sold individually.
