The Light Bulb (40W) is an OEM component for GE refrigerators. As an essential task lamp, it illuminates the interior of the refrigerator and freezer compartments.
All light bulbs will eventually burn out with consistent use over many years. Vibration during compressor cycles can also potentially disrupt bulb filaments faster.
Symptoms of a burnt out refrigerator light bulb include:
- Dim or no light illuminating inside refrigerator shelves
- Shadows and dark spots making it difficult to find items
- Higher utility costs from leaving the door open to see inside
This bulb is also compatible with refrigerators from brands like Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Nothing worked except the light :) Przemyslaw B. • Wallington , NJ • September 20, 2014
I changed the motherboard - computer and also changed the motor in the freezer, because it was doing a howling sound every time it turned on. The repair technician asked for $500 for a repair and that is on top of the $230 I paid him two days before. I looked up the parts and decided to try myself and it paid off. Great instructional videos. Thanks

- cold spots developing in certain freezer areas
- Higher power bills from inefficient temperature regulation
- Frost or ice patches forming on evaporator coils
This part is also compatible with some brands like Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore.

Broken fan blade Thomas H. • West Blocton , AL • April 21, 2014
I used a set of ring pliers to remove the old retaining ring, then spread the plastic ribs around the fan motor shaft with a small flat bladed screwdriver to ease removal of the old fan blade. I reversed the process to replace the blade, gently tapping a socket from my socket wrench set placed over the motor shaft and ribs with a small rubber mallet. I stopped when the shaft protruded about 1/8" beyond the plastic ribs of the new fan blade, then installed the new retaining clamp ring with the...

Refrigerator automatic ice bucket had rust on the auger helix dispenser Eric B. • Burke , VA • October 15, 2014
I ordered a new bucket and auger combination--I didn't want to have to completely disassemble the mechanism to replace the rusted auger helix dispenser, so for about twice the cost of the auger alone I got the complete assembly. The product arrived in pristine condition less than 48 hours after I purchased it online. About 10 minutes later (most of that spent taking out the old bucket and finding my philips head screwdriver), I had removed the four screws holding the cover plate on the old...

This armature kit is the moving plunger and linkage operated by the dispenser solenoid. It opens and closes the ice chute door during dispensing and helps it seal when idle to reduce frost and warm-air leaks.
- Converts the solenoid's electrical action into mechanical movement for the dispenser ice chute door
- Helps maintain a proper seal to limit frost and moisture around the dispenser
- Typical symptoms: ice won't dispense; chute door won't open/close; frost/ice buildup at the chute; loud buzzing or clicking from the dispenser area
- Wear or sticking of the armature/spring can hinder movement and affect dispenser operation
What's included: 1 armature kit Installation notes:
- Unplug the refrigerator and shut off water to the dispenser before servicing
- Access the dispenser mechanism in the door; remove trim/control panel per your model's service information
- Note the orientation of the armature, spring, and linkage; transfer components one-for-one to the new kit and secure hardware
- Verify the solenoid plunger moves freely, reassemble, restore power, and test dispenser operation

Restore smooth, reliable door movement. This hinge cam riser fits at the lower door hinge to provide the lift and ramp action that helps the refrigerator door open/close smoothly and seal properly—reducing sag, noise, and poor sealing. What it does:
- Interfaces with the lower hinge pin to lift and guide the door during opening and closing
- Helps maintain door alignment and gasket contact for a proper seal
- Can reduce door sag, scraping, wobble, and clicking/popping noises
- Common signs it's worn: door drops or binds, won't stay closed or self-close, or shows an uneven gap
What's included:
Install notes:
- Disconnect power and remove items from the door before servicing
- Support the door; remove the top hinge cover and screws, then lift the door off the lower hinge
- Remove the old riser at the lower hinge and install the new riser in the same orientation
- Reinstall hinges; verify gasket contact and door alignment, adjusting leveling if needed

When dispensing ice from the ice maker, the solenoid was buzzing loudly. It was also rusting badly. Brian B. • Hudson , NH • March 28, 2014
I ordered a new solenoid and when it arrived, I installed it as follows: I cut the power to the refrigerator. I then pulled off the rubber boot (and it's plastic frame) that covers the water switch. Then I removed the bezel that covers the front of the ice maker controls by pulling it straight out. Then I removed the four screws found on the assembly under the bezel. After pulling the assembly forward a bit, I detached the multi-wire connector attached to it and put the assembly aside....

This dispenser crank links the dispenser solenoid and the ice chute door. When you press the dispenser lever, the crank pivots to open and close the ice door so cubes or crushed ice can dispense cleanly without warm air leaking into the freezer.
- Connects the solenoid to the ice chute door to control door movement
- Helps seal the chute when not dispensing to reduce frost and moisture issues
- Common failure signs include ice door not opening/closing, constant frost around chute, or warm/moist air leakage at dispenser
- Can cause ice clumping, frost buildup, or water/ice dispensed irregularly when worn or broken
What's included: 1 dispenser crank Install notes:
- Disconnect power before servicing the dispenser area
- Access typically requires removing the dispenser front panel and trim; use care with plastic tabs and wiring
- Note linkage orientation to the solenoid and door flap before removal
- Inspect related parts for wear while open
