My dishwasher was leaking out copious amounts of water while cycling Michael K. • Oakland , MI • July 11, 2019
While at my sister's house, she showed me how to access & dismantle the housing unit on her dishwasher, thinking the issue might be from that area. So, when I came home, I opened up my housing unit and found that several of the screws had come out and the pump outlet seal was stretched out and partially outside of the unit itself. I located all of the missing screws & discovered I was still missing one, which my husband helped me order with the pump outlet seal. I easily replaced the old seal...

This lower spray arm assembly circulates wash water from the pump to clean dishes on the lower rack. The integrated shield helps direct water flow and protect the arm from debris, restoring consistent wash coverage.
- Distributes high-pressure water across the lower rack for effective cleaning
- Shield design helps prevent debris intrusion and improves spray pattern
- Common failure signs: poor lower-rack cleaning, noisy or restricted rotation, cracked or warped arm, clogged spray holes
- Also addresses leaking or splashing caused by a damaged or misaligned arm/shield
What's included: One lower spray arm with attached shield Install notes:
- Disconnect power and turn off water supply before servicing
- Remove lower rack; lift off old arm assembly per model design
- Clear any debris from pump outlet and sump before installing
- Ensure the new arm spins freely and is fully seated; test for smooth rotation

This drain cover gasket seals the drain/pump cover at the bottom of the dishwasher tub to keep wash water contained. Replacing a cracked or flattened gasket helps stop leaks from the base and protects nearby components.
- Creates a watertight seal between the drain cover and sump opening
- Helps prevent leaks onto the floor or into the dishwasher base during cycles
- Common signs of failure: puddles beneath the unit, dampness in the base, or a visibly hardened/cracked gasket
- Good practice to replace when the drain cover is removed for service to ensure a proper reseal
What's included: 1 drain cover gasket Install notes:
- Disconnect power and shut off water supply before servicing
- Remove the lower rack (and spray arm if required) to access the drain cover per your model
- Clean mating surfaces; install the new gasket evenly without twists
- Reassemble and run a short cycle while checking for leaks

The dishwasher door spring broke. Rachael T. • Junction City , OR • November 07, 2022
I ordered the parts, deciding that if one spring had broken, the other one should probably be replaced at the same time. I followed the suggestion of ordering the door spring bearing given on the ordering page, and since I had not yet pulled out the dishwasher, did not know that it was not used in this older model. However, the order arrived quickly (4 days), and they are genuine Whirlpool, made in the USA, parts. The access to the sides of the dishwasher where the springs are attached...

- Note the spring's routing and hook positions; take a photo before removal

- Signs include a loose terminal, burnt odor, or melted/charred insulation at the heater connection
What's included: 1 heater terminal nut
- Disconnect power and allow the appliance and element to cool completely before service
- Photograph wiring for reference; remove old hardware and clean the terminal
- Inspect the ring terminal, insulators, and stud; replace any heat-damaged components

Stopped running after rinse cycle and the clean light was flashed 3 times Clyde Y. • Turtle Creek , PA • August 29, 2015
Replaced the heating element as shown in the video. Repaired a bad connector on the wire leading to the heating element. The clean light still flashed 3 times. Determined that the thermal fuse also needed to be replaced. Replaced the thermal fuse as shown in the video. The clean light now flashed 7 times which I discovered meant that the control panel needed to be reset. I then reset the control panel by pressing the buttons: normal, heated dry, normal, heated dry. It now works perfectly.

Inadequate cleaning of dishes / detergent residue all over the interior Randy N. • Elkhart , IN • September 19, 2015
I cleaned all the jet nozzles with a toothpick and a pipe cleaner to remove the hard water deposits. I then replace the ring bearing under the bottom spray wand and the ring bearing under the upper spray wand. I also replaced the smaller radial ring bearing. Although none of them looked overly worn, it doesn't take much to cause the spray wands to spray inadequately.
Then, I replaced the float and washer assembly. Although it appeared to work properly when I lifted up on it and let it down, it...

- Replace if the seal is cracked, flattened, brittle, loose, or you see visible gaps
What's included: One inlet base seal.

Leaks from around the door and from the pump motor Samuel M. • Sudbury , MA • January 12, 2016
1. To fix the leaks from around the door, I replaced the upper and lower door seals. These were purchased in a separate transcation, so they are not the parts shown here. The upper door seal worked as intended, but the lower seal would not stay in place on the lower edge of the door during a wash. Therefore I cleaned the grease and detergent off the old seal, and installed using silicone sealer/adhesive. The plastic edge pieces for the lower seal were supplied with the kit, and they installed...

This felt door vent seal fits around the dishwasher's door vent to help contain steam and moisture within the inner door. Replacing a worn seal helps prevent minor leaks and condensation around the vent area during cycles.
- Creates a gasket between the vent assembly and inner door panel to keep steam directed through the intended vent path
- Reduces moisture escape that can cause drips or water spots on the outer door or nearby countertop
- Helps limit condensation or musty odors from trapped moisture inside the door panel
- Indicators of failure include visible wear or separation of the felt and moisture around the vent during operation
What's included: 1 felt door vent seal Install notes:
- Disconnect power and turn off water supply before servicing the dishwasher
- Remove the inner door panel to access the vent assembly
- Note the seal's orientation; clean mating surfaces; seat the new felt evenly around the vent with no gaps
- Reassemble and run a short test cycle to check for leaks at the vent area

Water leak from the right side of the dishwasher door Delbert T. • Bloomfield , IA • August 28, 2015
Replaced the felt seal and door vent assembly by removing the inside panel of the door and cleaning off the old seal and replacing with the new one. The vent assembly simply snapped out and was easy to replace with the new one. No more leaks and Mother was happy. Removal of the screws required a torx screw driver and someone to hold the door open while the panel was replaced. Easy fix.

Latch would not open consistently on detergent dispenser James G. • Waxhaw , NC • January 12, 2015
Appeared to be two problems: the latch was worn and one of the pins that slid in a guide on the actuator located in the inner panel had broke off. Detergent lid spring and pin appeared to be OK but decided to replace since I was aready working on it. I ordered all the inner panel mechanism from the control arm to the latch actuator on the inner panel. The repair was successful as the detergent dispenser now opens during its cycle.
