Overall the fix wasn't too hard. The challenge was putting the oven door back together and holding it together while trying to tighten the screws. Enlisted my wife's help to hold the door and at first the handle screws wouldn't tighten. My cordless screwdriver's battery was under-charged. Once I switched batteries I was able to tighten the screws. Seemed like I needed to push too hard (my wife freaked "not so hard you will strip them!") however pushing hard was what was needed. The problem is a finicky ignition system, Direct Spark Ignition. Apparently Whirlpool redesigned the igniter/burner assembly slightly to make it more reliable. The repair is very easy. Turn off power, but you don't need to turn off gas. Remove oven bottom and flame spreader, then remove burner/igniter assembly, one screw at front, one at back. Lift out burner assembly carefully to avoid stretching wire. Pull electric connector from pin on burner/igniter assembly. Vacuum to clean oven. ... Read more

• Door won't open after self cleaning cycle

I knew the door latch was suppose to lock for self clean and it wasn't, so I took the back off and after tracing out wires and the linkage to the door latch, determined that it was a faulty motor on the latch lock. Whenever the drawer was opened, it would fall of the guide rails. This lead to the drawer being crooked several times. I took the drawer out and noticed one of the glides was missing. Ordered a new pair, popped it on and now the drawer slides properly. Read more

• Door won't close

This oven was a Kenmore model #66595822003. I replaced both spring hinges. This oven was a white oven so it took the MFG# WP8053807 hinge (order two of them). They are the same hinge. No left or right. To get the door off the oven, open the door all the way open, I installed pins (preferably only 1/4" long) in the holes of both hinges. Then remove the spring steel retainers above old hinges in the oven frame. These holds hinges in place. Now close the door until hinge stops on pins. Lift up... Read more

Could not level stove. Front leveling legs had pieces broken out where leg contacted floor. Back leveling legs were worn and did not stay at corrected height when stove returned to full weight on floor. Replaced both front and back leveling legs, and stove was able to be leveled. I searched on your website for a replacement stem. Unfortunately the stem is not sold separately. I purchased the entire valve after confirming with your online rep that I was ordering the correct part. I received the valve in 2 days removed the stem and inserted it directly into the existing burner valve. Perfect fit easy installation and burner works as it should. Simply repair and I probably saved $100 by not calling a repair tech to come to my home. Read more
