My freezer was still frozen (good) but it stopped making ice (bad) Andrew M. • Denver , CO • October 08, 2023
Tl;dr: Watch the repair video FIRST. This will take you less than 15m if you do watch the video. You need to remove a door panel, you can't directly replace the icemaker. Even without doing that, it took me less than 30 minutes. 4 screws, a panel removal, a couple of computer-style power plugs, and you'll have ice again no problem. Stupid easy.
Initially, we did the button reset on the old icemaker, and it didn't beep or anything, so that was enough troubleshooting for me to replace the...

Freezer door handle came off Vladimir A. • Charlotte , NC • April 04, 2015
Replaced broken handle support bracket (part #AP5620448) and cap (part #AP5620751). Used a phillips head screwdriver and allen wrench. Pliers also came in very handy.
If replacing cap and support bracket, be sure to install cap before support bracket, otherwise you'll have trouble installing the cap.
I ended up not needing to replace the fixer handle (part #AP4372038), but I'll keep it around just in case.

Icemaker / water dispenser would not shut off David R. • Montgomery , TX • May 07, 2016
First, I modified old butter knife by bending a 90° angle about 3/4" from the tip. I slid the bent in up under the bottom of the switch cover and worked it to one side. I then rotated the knife downward using the bent end to pry the cover off. The switch is held by plastic arms on each side. The bottom right arm has a locating pin that fits into the switch. Unplugged the switch and re-installed.

Water valve 2 way went bad Michael N. • Monroe , NC • February 07, 2016
The repair job took me less than 15 minutes. I removed the lower back panel from the back of the fridge then disconnected the power to the fridge and turned off the water supply to the fridge. I then looked closely at how the water valve 2-way was installed and removed it. Then I connected the water supply lines for the water and ice then connected the water valve line and I was done. It was that simple. Saved an appliance service call of about $100. and did the job myself.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You
Broken rear wheel. Todd C. • Austin , TX • October 08, 2018
I have a large Samsung 4 door refrigerator. One of the rear wheels broke. To replace it, you need the wheel and the shaft. To lift the refrigerator for the repair, I had my wife stand in front of it with her foot on a board that was wedged against the front wheels. I then pushed the refrigerator up from behind and slid a 3/4" piece of plywood underneath the bottom with my foot. This gives you enough space to do the repair. After removing the back cover, it's best just to knock out the broken...

The bottom shelves in my refrigerator had all cracked on the rails so they would no longer slide in and out but stacked on top of each other making it tough to store items Craig N. • Normal , IL • March 21, 2017
Actually, my 11 year old daughter just removed the old shelves and installed the new ones after wiping the fridge down. Prices were cheaper than I could find on Amazon for the same parts. Everything is now honky dory. Moral of the story - don't store a lots of bottled water in your crispers - they won't take the weight :)

Original casters for samsung fridge were flattened out from weight not from sliding sideways Yitz G. • Phoenix , AZ • November 27, 2017
Samsung does not make it easy to replace the casters. The shafts holding the casters are crimped at the ends and had to be cut off with little room for any tools. I had to jack up the fridge and I used a hacksaw blade with a handle to cut through the wheel shafts. I didn't want to use a reciprocating saw. I couldn't find a way to crimp the new shafts so I drilled small holes at the ends and used cotter pins to retain the shafts in place. The rear caster had no room to slide the new one in...

Ice maker in freezer was overfilling James C. • Cary , NC • September 02, 2019
I started by replacing the water filter assembly since it was leaking after I attempted to install a non-name-brand filter. The new assembly didn't fix the problem (but was hard to find, and AppliancePartsPros was amazing in being able to get one). Further, while replacing that I noticed that the previous owner had literally cut out the grounding pin from the power cord. I decided to replace the power cord and the Ice Maker Assembly. None of the online stores seemed to have either part listed...

Wheels on refrigerator were damaged Judy J. • Lumberton , NC • November 11, 2019
Used the video with the parts and replaced the wheels. The only thing we did wrong was using the front wheel axle instead of the back wheel axle on the back wheels. I will just order two more front wheel axles which are longer than the back axle. Thank you for the video, it made this repair easier.

Freezer worked fridge did not (e 22 error code) Alex H. • Okauchee , WI • July 11, 2016
1. Unplug and let defrost (I had it unplugged for days, not sure if that was necessary).
2. Removed panels inside the back of the fridge (careful not to damage the wires. Also, note that on my model there was a screw behind the long, narrow LED light strip. That strip had to be unplugged and slid down to access the screw. There were also screws in each of the lower light fixtures.
