For Frigidaire Replacement Icemaker (Part Number: OEM11898225)

John for Model Number frigidaire plrs267zab8

My ice maker was not filling up at all, it would sound like it but nothing. So I thought something might be frozen and I unplugged the fridge for about 4 hours. Well, after I turned it on low and behold the ice maker is filling up with no problem, but now my problem is the ice maker won't turn off after it cycles through even if I put the arm up in the off position. It continually runs and filling over and over dumping water out of it into the freezer. What is it supposed to be doing once an hour is continually cycling over and over is there a remedy or should I purchase a new ice maker?

Hello John, The bale arm on the ice maker should turn the ice maker off when the arm cannot fully return. This is a bad on/off switch in the ice maker 5304458371.

Hello Lynne. Remove the ice bucket and raise the arm on the old icemaker. Remove the screw securing the icemaker to the inside wall on the bottom and loosen the top screws and lift the icemaker off the screws. Then unplug the old icemaker. Make sure and connect the wires on the new icemaker 5304458371 good and install the icemaker to the wall.

Hello Ken. No, the icemaker has to get cold before the unit will cycle and bring in water. Sometimes this can take 4 to 6 hours depending on the temperature of the freezer. If it has not produced ice within 24 hours, then most likely the valve is bad and not the icemaker 5304458371. Hope this helps.

Hi Ken. The bail arm has to be down. Is it plugged in? Is there any ejecter blades jammed so the rotation does not work? Is the waterline kinked in back of the unit? Is the water fill tube correctly placed in the back? Is the I/Maker level? Thank you.

Teej for Model Number 2537452240

In Kenmore branded refrigerator/ice maker, the ice in the tray is being melted then re-freezing. It appears there is a heater element in the bottom of the ice maker that comes on to loosen the cubes before they are dumped into the tray. I suspect this heater is overheating or staying on too long, partially melting the cubes below which then re-freeze once the heater turns off. Is there any fix or adjustment for this other than replacing the entire unit.

1 Answer

Hi Teej. The icemaker is part # [AP39666072]. The contacts in the head assy. have gotten sticky and allow the heater to stay on longer then necessary. Thank you.

Hello Fred. Check and see if there is any loose wires on the dispenser board or the auger motor. If not, you will need to replace the power board 241708202 in the dispenser. Hope this helps.

Dennis, The average cycle time of the icemaker is 1 hour, under proper, ideal conditions( good water pressure and a freezer air temp of 3 to 5 degrees and not overstuffed with packages) and it could take as much as 90 minutes, but that's not the norm. When you first install or power up the refrigerator, it could take as much as 18 to 24 hours, for the icemaker to get cold enough to cycle, and fill and dump enough ice to flush the system and produce proper ice cubes. Good Luck and Thanks

Hello Den. If the ice cubes are not large enough, you will need to replace the water valve 242252702. If they are too small, they will jam the fingers of the icemaker. Hope this helps.
