Bernard Brandon June 23, 2013 for Model Number Kenmore Elec range 790.94039701 I have a Kenmore elec.range-Model 790.94039701-S/N -VF81717641 and the burner on indicator light won't go off for the LF and LR control knobs. The light stays on even after we turn the burner off but the burner does turn off. Could you please tell me the part and number that I need to fix this problem? I would like to purchase the switch? Are the LF and LR switches the same part #?
1 Answer Bernard, There are 2 different infinite switches. The one for the 6" element is part number 316436000 and the one for the 8" element is part number 316436001. Read More...
Raymond May 20, 2013 for Model Number Frigidaire M# FEFL79GSA my front burner (#15A) has two setting on the switch. One side control the outer burner and the other control the inner burner. The inside burner does not work. Is the burner a single unit with two elements? How do you measure it to see if it is bad? How do you measure the switch, if it is bad?
1 Answer Raymond, In most cases when one of the elements on the dual burner is not working is because the element has burnt out. Generally you can use a flashlight to look inside the element through the glass to see if you can determine if there are any burn marks. If so then the element is definitely bad. If you do not see burn mark then you would want to test the continuity of the element across the leads for the element. Also if the smaller element does not come on when you turn on the outer element then this would be a good indication of a bad element as both should come on the dual side. Read More...
Sam May 17, 2013 for Model Number Kenmore Electric Oven 790.93752104 I have a Kenmore electric stove/oven. when using the stovetop burners it makes an electrical popping sound... Not very fast or at regular intervals but almost everytime we are using the stove. any suggestions?
1 Answer Sam, You'll need to remove the elements 316442301 and check the terminal ends, for arc marks, discoloration and damage. You'll also want to use a flashlight and check inside the element receptacle 5303935058 for the same. Make sure when you re insert the elements, they fit tight in the receptacle. Read More...
Wqg January 11, 2013 for Model Number FEF389WFCF I think my front panel rocker switch that switches the surface element between small/large is broken. I cannot figure out how to raise the cooktop or remove the front panel. Can you tell me how to access the switch?
1 Answer Hello WQG, The switch is located on the control panel and you would remove the rear cover of the control panel to access the rocker switch. Read More...
Bonnie December 26, 2012 The right hand front heating element on my tappen range modle TEF361ESC ONLY heats on high, and not on any other settings. Would this part surface element switch be what I need to replace to fix this problem?
1 Answer Hello Bonnie. If the switch is not regulating the temperature, you will need to order and replace the switch 316436000 in the unit. Read More...
1 Answer Hi. Use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist you in your diagnostics. Make sure all terminal block 240/120vac wires are snug and have proper voltage. If you are referring to the bake element part # 316225001 and the broil element part # 316203200 then I would ohm out each one and make sure the wires to them are not loose or shorted out. If the clock /control relays are not sending the voltage to the elements then replace it. Clock part # 316455420. Thank You. Read More...
Frank S October 19, 2012 for Model Number 790.96214403 I have a Kenmore Model # 790.96214403 that right rear burner will not work. How can I make sure the element is bad and not something else?
1 Answer Frank, You'er on track, The infinite / burner switch 316436000, is the most likely issue and the easiest to get to. Remove power to the range, remove the control panel rear cover, turn the switch on, check for a "closed" circuit between the H1 and L1 terminals on the switch, then the H2 to L2 terminals of the switch, with a multi meter. If either circuit is "open" the switch is at fault, and needs to be repalced. Read More...
John September 22, 2012 for Model Number fef351cwb My oven is not working. I had the heating element checked and it is good. Is it the oven switch or thermostat? Everything else works including broiler.
1 Answer Hello John. If the element is good and the voltage is good, then you will need to order and replace the clock assembly 316207511 in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Bonnieboo August 22, 2012 for Model Number FEFL79DBJ The right front dual burner does not work at all. It does not appear to have any burned out places on the heating coil. How do I determine if it is just the Surface Element Switch & if so then which switch do I need to order? Thank you so much!
1 Answer Bonnieboo, If you wish to circuit test the infinite (burner) switch, You'll need to remove power to the range, remove the rear panel to access the switch, label and remove the wires on the switch. Turn the control knob to the high heat setting so both elements would be energized. Terminal P1 and 2 should have a "closed" circuit, P2 and 4 should have a "closed" circuit, and P2 and 4A should have a "closed" circuit with using a multimeter. If you do need the Rt Frnt dual burner switch the part number 316238201 would be needed, if the burner itself is neded 316555800 would be the part to order. Of course, don't forget to check for broken, damaged or loose wires, at the switch or element, as well. Thanks Read More...
