Daniel July 24, 2018 for Model Number JGBP85BEB5BB Our gas oven is reaching temperature very slowly. This is occuring about 50% of the time. Typically, you will hear the gas flow for a few seconds, then hear it stop and the flame go out. Flow starts again after a few more seconds. This will repeat until around 150 degrees. Sometimes, it continues until the set temperature is reached. I have noticed that if I turn on and use a burner for a few seconds, I can sometimes stop this happening (heating goes normally from that point), however it does not always work. The burners all are functioning without issue. The broiler also sometimes does not want to light unless I use the burner trick. During none of these problems am I able to hear or smell any leaking gas. It seems to be some sort of malfunctioning valve or controller. Any thoughts?
1 Answer Daniel, Test for 3.2-3.6 vac at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html. Read More...
Val Cheban July 08, 2018 for Model Number Jgb690 Everything work fine on the oven (bake, top burners). But when I turn on the bake setting the oven heats up to the appropriate temperature but there is a strong gas smell the whole time the bake part of the oven is on? What part do I need?
1 Answer Val, You will want to check the oven safety valve for 3.2 to 3.6 vac and if the voltage is low this would be a weak igniter which could cause this issue. Also check for dirty or rusted burner tube. Check to make sure that the burner tube is in place properly over the orifice. Read More...

Uncle Ernie March 07, 2018 for Model Number RGB745WEA7WW My Hotpoint gas range (model RGB745WEA7WW) has trouble in the oven section. There seems to be a kind of pulsating of heat. At one moment there is very little heat, then suddenly, the heat goes way up, and then back down and then back up etc. The igniter physically looks OK, but you guys are the Pros. What should I try first?? Thank you!
1 Answer Uncle Ernie, The first thing you should check would be the oven sensor to make sure that the oven sensor is good. If the sensor checks ok then this will likely be an issue with the control board of the unit. Read More...
Richard January 08, 2018 for Model Number JGB918BEK4BB Top burners work. Broiler works. The oven does not heat up. It stays at a reading of 100°F but no heat. There is no glow of the oven igniter at all. I know oven igniter it is part WB13K0021 but when I google this part I get WB13K21 as the replacement. What is the difference between proper fitting of these part numbers?
1 Answer Hello Richard, The manufacturer has crossed the original part number to WB13K21. This is the correct replacement part for the model provided. Read More...
Nicholas December 22, 2017 for Model Number GE PGS688SEMSS So my oven just stopped working. The Stove Tops work fine. The Broiler is working fine. But when I attempt to start the oven it doesn't show the oven temp rise and their is not heat. What can it be? I do not have any error codes and everything else is working fine.
1 Answer Nicholas, You will want to check to see if the igniter is coming on. If it is then you will want to check to see if there is 3.0 to 3.6 vac at the oven safety valve. If there is proper power at the valve then it is faulty and will need to be replaced. Read More...
Julie M November 25, 2017 for Model Number RGB508PEH2CT The oven and broiler don't go on. The stove top burners work. I did this a while back and then decided to work again. This time I think it's dead. Is this the oven igniter ?
1 Answer Julie, With the bake and broil not working you will want to check to make sure that there is power getting to the igniters and if there is not then the issue will be a faulty main control board. Read More...
