Daniel for Model Number JGBP85BEB5BB Our gas oven is reaching temperature very slowly. This is occuring about 50% of the time. Typically, you will hear the gas flow for a few seconds, then hear it stop and the flame go out. Flow starts again after a few more seconds. This will repeat until around 150 degrees. Sometimes, it continues until the set temperature is reached. I have noticed that if I turn on and use a burner for a few seconds, I can sometimes stop this happening (heating goes normally from that point), however it does not always work. The burners all are functioning without issue. The broiler also sometimes does not want to light unless I use the burner trick. During none of these problems am I able to hear or smell any leaking gas. It seems to be some sort of malfunctioning valve or controller. Any thoughts?
Answer Daniel, Test for 3.2-3.6 vac at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html. Read More...
