Vijay

I am having GE appliances all over my house. since 1 and half year. Till now i have changes my MWF 6-7 times. I am tied of paying more its not even coming for 20 days. After 15 days water pressure comes down, and after 20 days water will dropping like drops. paying $45.00 every 20 days its killing me. I cleaned the old and tried still not working if i replace with new one it works fine but only for 20 days. I stopped using fridge and using Brita. Please suggest me what will be the problem

Hello Bethany! Yes it should be safe to drink the water. When you first change the water filter, you need to run at least 1 gallon of water through the new filter to get rid of the sediment and air introduced to the system. Thanks!

Kay for Model Number GE Side By Side GE2SS2SQG

I have a MWF water filter which I replaced in May 2014. I replace them every 6 months or earlier if the light goes on. I have been on vacation for the last two weeks. When I came home, the water that dispensed from the refrigerator was clear but had beige and darker particulates floating in it. Ok. I ran about 10 gallons through the water dispenser with very little difference change. Still stuff floating in my water. I ran water from my unfiltered tap, and it was perfectly clear. I am confused. My water from the refrigerator has always been crystal clear. If the town flushed the water, it should have worked its way through the refrigerator by now. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Hello Kay, You will have to replace the water tank to correct this issue. What happens is since the water is filtered, the water sitting in the tank will actually start to develop an algae formation. City water has chemicals in it to prevent this from happening but since the water goes through the filter before entering the water tank, the chemicals are removed.

Lillian for Model Number ZISS-480DRSS

I have a Monogram Fridge ZISS-480DRSS. I changed the filter and it automatically raised as I believe it should do. However, I realized I forgot to fill it with water as the instructions say. So I went ahead and took it of by turning it as stated in the instructions. When I filled it with water, I tried putting it back on and it does not automatically raise. If I put it back by just turning it counterclockwise, water does not come out of the dispenser. Could you please help?

1 Answer

Hello Lillian. The filter does not automatically raise. You have to twist it and lock it into place on the unit. Once locked into place. If you press the dispenser and get no water, then there is another issue, not the filter. It could be a bad valve WR57X33326 or filter head WR02X45207 or switch WR23X10783 in the dispenser assembly.

Hello Betty. You can use the filter out of the box. There is no need to soak the filter.

Chris Zimmerer for Model Number ZFSB23DRASS

For several years, I could not get water from dispenser but ice maker was fine. Lately, ice maker quit so I tried a new water filter. Now I get ice again but if I ask for water, the water comes out on floor under refrig. I thought possibly it was the water valve so I remover rear lower panel. Water was coming down from above just above water valve and a little toward the front thru a crack. Thought I should remove large rear panel on rear of refrig but at bottom, the panel is riveted near bottom. No water dripping inside at filter where it screws on. Where do I go from here?

1 Answer

Chris, You should check the water lines coming off the water valve to make sure that they are not spraying water when in use. Basically cracked or have a pin hole in them. This could give off the appearance of it coming from above the water valve and slightly toward the front.

Hello Marybeth, There is no motor for the filter. The only sound you should hear is the sound of water pressure building in the filter when the dispense button is pressed. There will be air purge from the system at first and there will be some sputtering while you draw the 2 gallons that is recommended to dispense to purge all of the air out.

Hello Joseph! No, you do not have to turn the water off to replace the filter. Per the manufacturer the water filter should be replaced at least every six months according to usage. If you do not use the ice/water much you may replace it one a year. Thanks.

Lavonne, The water should stop flowing when the filter is removed and if it is not then the filter head seal is bad. The 2 things that you could do is replace the filter head or pull the unit out and shut the water off to the unit before replacing the filter.
