For Ge Refrigerator Temperature Sensor (Part Number: OEM9556230)

Semih, You will want to pull the air duct assembly down and check the damper in the duct assembly for being broken or having a broken damper at the bottom behind the custom cool drawer. If the damper at the top of the unit is broken then you will need part number WR49X10091 and if it is the lower section then part number WR60X10062 for double and WR60X10063 for single.

Several issues. In my cold storage ice maker there is a wire hanging down and the end piece is off of it showing 2 naked wires. I need that piece. I have not had ice for 2 weeks and very slow water flow in door. I replaced filter even though the front panel said filter was fine but still no ice in cold storage ice maker but freezer ice maker is making ice. My lights have not been working in freezer compartment or cold storage compartment. I replaced bulb in cold storage but still no lights in either compartment. I have checked closed door buttons and they are working o.k. What is going on with lights? Any ideas? My LED lights on the front of refrigerator work fine.

Hello Jeannette, The icemaker issue with the hanging wires are most likely the temperature sensor that tells the icemaker when the water is frozen and the unit should cycle. Since no individual parts are available for the icemaker, the complete assembly 243297613 will have to be replaced. The lights not working, since the switch tests good, will be in the main power board 242115279.

Hello Jose, There are many things that can cause this general symptom. You should see if the compressor and the fans are running. If so check to see if there is a frost build-up on the back wall of the freezer compartment. You need to check for power coming out of the main board to the compressor. If the compressor is not running and power is being supplied to it from the main control, remove the start relay and shake it. If it rattles, it will need to be replaced. If the compressor is running and there is a frost build-up on the back wall of the freezer, you should check the defrost heater, the defrost thermostat, the evaporator thermistor, the freezer thermistor, the fresh food thermistor, and the main board.

Freezer was dripping the Ice and the temperature readings at the top of the refrigerator were off. This happens at different parts of the day. Freezer said 7° when it was 22° and fresh food was off 10° also. I replaced the defrost thermostat this morning with the WR50X10068 and replaced one of the Thermistors right next to it in the freezer WR55x10025. It has been 2 1/2 hours and the freezer dropped to 28 degrees but the fresh food side has not changed at all. still 48° on the readout. What next? There are a few other thermistors but I am not sure what the next steps are. PLEASE HELP as I am going nuts!

Hello James, First of all, you have to allow 24 hours to even hope for a stabilization in the units' temperatures. You also should press in on the door switch and make sure the evaporator fan motor WR60X10185 is running up to speed. These fan motors are bad to turn too slowly. If you can stop the fan blade and it does not come back to full speed immediately or it has to be bumped to start, it will have to be replaced. You should also check the damper for a frost build-up. If there is a frost build-up in the damper, you should check for air leaks around both door seals and the ice door.

Hello Jon. The side walls of the unit has oval small grills in them. The thermistors are behind them when you unsnap them from the side walls of the unit.

Hi, I got few issues with this unit now. The freezer and ref section stop cooling whenever there is a frost build up in the back wall of the freezer. The ice melts, yet the bottom food in the bottom section of the freezer are still frozen. In the ref section, the items in the bottom gets frozen too including the water in the tank. Whenever I remove the frost, few minutes after the fan would start running again. It stays running overnight but then it stops in the morning. Then it cycles to the frost, melting and freezing of water in the tank, etc. What parts should I replace?

1 Answer

Hello Luis. Yes, it sounds like the mother board is bad. It powers the display board in the unit.
