For Ge Refrigerator Temperature Sensor (Part Number: OEM9556230)

Hksiu97 for Model Number GSS25JFMBWW

GE water tube frozen. Unfortunately, the WR49X10173 is not compatible to GE model GSS25JFMBWW. The 2 side by side doors were replaced by thicker doors by GE in 2007 under a recall. I have replaced all 3 temperature sensors WR55X10025, also the Defroast Thermostat WR50X124 and the Main Control Board WR55X10942 were replaced. It worked great for 6 days then NO water. I turned down the temperature setting from 5 to 3, 3 to 1; then after a while, NO water again. Please advise other optons. Thank you.

HK, The retrofit doors that were replaced, should have solved any frozen water tube issues in the door liner, but you will want to check the door panel, and inner door panel for frost, moisture or condensation along the hinge side of the panels. That would indicate where the water tube is freezing, if it is. The other possible options are : a faulty fill valve or wire harness WR57X33326, WR23X10168 ,you didn't mention any temperature issues but you also need to check the water tank WR17X10734 make sure it's not frozen, due to improper air flow or articles against the walls or hanging over the shelves. If all's Ok, then consider the filter head assembly WR02X45206 The issue could be there, in the internal valve sticking closed and not allowing water to flow.

Hksiu97 for Model Number GSS25JFMBww

The 2001 side by side GE model GSS25JFMBWW has water tube frozen problem. All 3 temperature sensors WR55X10025 been replaced, Defost Thermostat WR50X124and the Main Control Board WR-55X10942 has been replaced. It works great for 6 days, then water tube frozen again, even the freezer control dial been turned down from 5 to 3, to 2 to 1. The suggested heater kit WR49X10173 is NOT for the GE model GSS25 JFMBWW. May be becasue the water tube is plastic, NOT metal. Please note the 2 doors has been changed to thicker doors (better insulation) by GE under a recall in 2007. Please advice the specification on the Heater and Bracket Assembly by GE Part Number AP3183311 MFG Part Number WR51X10055. Please advise the resistance value measured at room temperature 68F (20 degree C) and at 32F (0 degree C). I would like to find out whether the heater element is working to its full specified performance. Thank you for your help. Really appreciated.

Hksiu97 for Model Number GSS25 JFMB WW

I have a GE side by side fridge, GE model GSS25 JFMBWW. No water dispense, water tube frozen at freezer door near dispense area. Have changed all 3 temperature sensors (WR55x10025) , Defrost thermostat (WR50x124), and Main Control board (WR55X10942). Worked great after 6 days, then had to reduce the freezer temperature setting (9 is max. very cold) from 5 (mid point/normal setting) to 2, now to 1, and still have problem. Freezer temperature -10 degree. Please advice the correct spec on the temperature sensor part (wr55x10025), I measured resistance value reading at 13K ohms at 32 degree F, and 5K ohms at 68 degree F? Thanks.

Tom, The water on the bottom of the freezer compartment is usually an indication of a clogged drain line. If you pull the lower basket out you can clean the ice from the drain and flush with hot water. For the dispenser water not working, you will want to pull the kickplate off and there will be a water line connection at the bottom. Disconnect the water line connection and put the dispenser to water. Push on the dispenser lever and if water comes out then the dispenser water line is frozen in which you can get the dispenser heater kit WR49X10173 which will correct the issue.

Jas, To change out the temperature sensor you will need to access the sensor and cut the sensor out and splice the new one in. The thermistor should be located on the side wall under a grill. The grill will be small and to remove you just use a flat blade screwdriver to pop it loose.

Tim, You will want to remove the rear cover in the freezer compartment and check to see if the coils are impacted with ice. If they are then you would want to do a continuity test on the defrost heater and thermostat. If either does not have continuity then you will need to replace that part. If they both check ok then you would want to test the defrost thermistor to make sure that it is within range. At 0 degrees the thermistor should have 42.5K ohms of resistance. If outside of range then replace the thermistor. If the coils do not have frost impacted on them then you will want to check the damper assembly for proper opening and closing and test the thermistor in the refrigerator compartment. It should read approximately 14K ohms at 37 degrees and if outside this range then replace the thermistor. If the damper is not opening and closing properly then replace the damper. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
