Joe O. September 29, 2012 for Model Number PTS25LBMARCC - G.E. Arctica Profile Hello. My evaporator coils are icing up, and so the fresh food section is not cooling. I've replaced the defrost limiter and the mother board. I checked the heater for continuity, and it's fine. From what I read in the Q&A's, the next thing to focus on is the temperature sensors (AP3185407). 1) Please tell me know many such sensors are in model #PTS25LBMARCC. 2) As it's the fresh food section that fails to cool, can I assume the sensors in the fresh food section are bad, and the freezer sensors good? Thank you
1 Answer Hello Joe, If the evaporator coils are frosting up, the fresh food sensor has nothing to do with your issue. The issue is a defrost issue. This is controlled by the main control boards' reaction to the information received from the components on the unit. The defrost heater can still be bad since the coils inside it can contact and show a reading when the element is actually bad. I had this issue several times and it caused me to replace the defrost heater when I had previously thought it was good. The way I discovered this was when I used the jumper on the board to force the heater to energize. The heater started glowing and sparked brightly and went dim and faded out. When I discontinued the voltage and let it cool back down I tried it again with my test meter and it read continuity once again. Yours may not be bad, but you should bump the element while testing for continuity. If the numbers vary when you bump it, the heater is bad. In response to the other question, there are two sensors in the freezer compartment. One is at the left bottom of the evaporator cover and the other is mounted to the top left of the evaporator assembly. Read More...
Carlg August 29, 2012 for Model Number GE GSS25JFP Follow-up question about my GE GSS25JFP evaporator fan motor: I looked at the link. Actually, the unit started functioning fine. Is there a particular reason that you recommend replacing the thermistor along the evaporator fan motor? Especially since it seems to be working great? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Carlg. If the unit is working great, then there is no need to replace any of the parts on the unit. Read More...
Carlg August 28, 2012 for Model Number GE GSS25JFP I have ordered a new evaporator motor and am installing it. The thermistor has two wires that have to be put into the evaporator motor connector (quite a job--I just now read your suggestion about wire nuts). There does not seem to be any marking on them that distinguishes them and I'm not totally sure I put them back in the same order. My question is: does it make a difference which wire from the thermistor goes into which position of the connector? I have installed the evaporator motor and it is not turning. Would a wrong wiring of the thermistor prevent the evaporator motor from working? If not, what else could be wrong with the refrigerator? It has stopped cooling. I replaced the motor because it had obviously failed--it was just barely turning. Thanks!

Fred August 28, 2012 for Model Number HS25GFTCBB Defrost isn't working. I have verified that defrost heater and thermostat are good. I have replaced the control board. Can it be the evaporator thermistor-part no 243 on the diagram. The resistance measures 1.2K ohms at room temp and about 1.8K ohms at 32 degrees.
1 Answer Hell Fred. Yes, the thermistor WR55X10025 can cause the issue you are having with the unit. Read More...
Travis August 26, 2012 for Model Number pfs22sisbss The new sensor I have does not have any markings on the wires. Does it matter how it's installed (can the wires be crossed)?
1 Answer Hello Travis, The temperature sensors are not polarized so the wires can be hooked up either way. Read More...
Refrige August 21, 2012 for Model Number PDS22SCRBLSS I have a GE Profile refrigerator Freezer at the bottom. The problem I have is that the side of the bottom freezer is hot and the temperature keeps rising. The stuff in freezer looks like it is still cold. I want to know what is going on and how do I fix the problem.
1 Answer Hello Refrige. You need to check and see if the condenser fan motor is bad on the unit and needs to be replaced on the unit. Also, make sure the condenser coils are good and clean on the unit as well. Read More...
Willie August 17, 2012 for Model Number GE Monogram frig. ZISB480DM The control temp section for veggies and meat is freezing everything in them. This started about 5 weeks back. I replaced the main control board and all worked fine until yesterday. Now we have the same problem. Do you think this board has failed or do I look for some other problem?
1 Answer Willie, You need to look for someting else, like the damper motor assembly WR60X10063, and check for loose connections or moisture in the connectors. if the door sticks open, or doesn't close completely, you'll experience freezer in the bin and in some cases the lower region of the fresh food compartment. Chuck August 14, 2012 for Model Number a4425gdtaww Freezer works fine, but fresh food side wasn't getting cold. I pulled the back panel off in the freezer and the coils were a block of ice. The thermistor on the coils tested about 6kohms (when encased in ice), the heater and thermostat both checked ok for continuity when cold. Is it just the one thermistor that needs replaced?
1 Answer Hello Chuck. If the heater and the thermostat are testing good on theunit, and it is not defrosting, you will need to order and replace the control board WR55X10942C on the unit. Read More...
John August 11, 2012 for Model Number gts22wcpbrcc Is there a temp. sensor beside a defrost thermostat for this model? if so where is it located and how to install it? I have my evaporator exposed however I don't see anything that resembles the temp. sensor as shown in part number WR55x10025. Thank you for your time.
1 Answer Hello John! Yes, there is a temp sensor WR55X10025 located inside of a clip (part number WR02X10879) on the evaporator assembly. The wires originate from the evaporator compartment, but the actual sensor is inside the plastic cover. You will need to cute the wires on the old sensor and attach the new wire with wire nuts and mount it in the same clip. Hope this helps you, thanks! Read More...
Stephen August 07, 2012 for Model Number gts22wcpbrww How do I install this part? Where is it located? I've exposed the evaporator coils and in the top right corner I don't see the part there. Are the wires different?
1 Answer Hello Stephen. It is located inside the clip WR02X10879 on the evaporator assembly. Read More...
