Adhikary November 12, 2012 for Model Number Haier- HTP 18 G AA WW-06 Hi. My Haier (Model- HTP 18 G AA WW-06) refrigerators section is getting too much cold and liquid becoming hard ice. Compressor and fans are running non stop. After every 10 hour, compressor stops for 20 minutes and melts ice. Freezer is getting lots of ice. what to do? I am very frusteded. Thank you very much.
1 Answer Hello Adhikary, Based on the information provided it sounds as if though your thermostat RF-7350-87 is faulty. Read More...
Jeremiah November 10, 2012 for Model Number gss20iephww The lower section of my freezer and refrigerator seem to be working properly , but the top half of my freezer is at 58 degrees. I replaced the mother board and the defrost heater is only 2 months old and I can hear the water dripping and boiling off of it so it is still working as well. Where should I go from here?
1 Answer Hello Jeremiah, You should check to make sure that your evaporator fan is working properly. An inefficient or not working fan motor will cause the freezer temperature to rise. Also check to make sure that you are getting complete defrost. A partial defrost will also cause higher temperatures. Your evaporator thermistor should read 42.5K ohms at 0 degrees and 14K at 37 degrees. Make sure that condenser fan is running and that the condenser coils are clean. Also check to make sure that there is nothing blocking the vents. Read More...
Tom November 08, 2012 for Model Number GSS25TGMFWW On this GE side by side, food is freezing in the refrigerator section. It appears from the part diagram there are 2 thermistors in the refrigerator section. How do I distinguish which one is bad? Should I replace both to be on the safe side? How do I install the new ones? Do I have to splice them to the old wires within the refrigerate section.
1 Answer Hello Tom, Based on the information provided, you may want to pull the duct assembly out and make sure that the damper door is not broken or staying open. If it is staying open then it would cause freezing issue. At this point you would need to replace damper assembly WR49X10091. If you do have a sensor issue you would have to cut out the old sensor and splice new sensor on. If unit is freezing in entire compartment check the damper first. Read More...
Andrew November 01, 2012 for Model Number gsh25jfta bb My freezer coils frost's over, is defrost heater bad??
1 Answer Hello Andrew. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Shafi October 22, 2012 for Model Number GE PDS22SCRARSS I changed my motherboard the freezer started working but the fridge is warm. It is cooling very little even if i put it on the lowest temp in my fridge the lowest I can go is 34 then also its not working. I think its Temperature Sensor, if yes please let me know which one to change and how to change it ?
1 Answer Hi. If the freezer is cold and the fresh food is not then I would remove the damper cover to see if it is open in mid settings on both controls. Use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist you in your diagnostics. Measure if you have the voltage to the dampener part # WR09X10114. If so then replace the dampener. Disconnect the wiring to the motor and then place something in the flapper to keep it open half way until you can get the new part. Thank you. Read More...
Jim M October 14, 2012 for Model Number PS123SGRASV Noticed water on floor in front of unit. Freezer and fridge both 50. Compressor not hot to touch, condenser fan running. Where to start?
1 Answer Jim, since the compressor and the condenser fan motor is running, you want to start at the Black wire on the compreeor overload, If you have 120 VAC from the black wire to chassis ground, you'll need to check or replace the overload/relay assembly WR8X113 WR07X10057. If there is no voltage, then go at the "motherboard" WR55X10942C. Read More...
Mike K. October 12, 2012 for Model Number GSS23QSTASS My side by side refrigerator/freezer seems to run continuously and the freezer temp drops 10 degrees below the 3 degrees setting. The refrigerator side gets colder too (36 degrees). Is this normal? Is this a thermostat problem?
1 Answer Hi. The thermistor's part # WR55X10025 send the temperature sensed to the control board to operate the controlled circuits. They ohm out to 10,000 ohms at 0°. Disconnect them and ohm them out at the main board. The wiring diagram is in the controls or behind the lower kick plate. The freezer thermistor is on the upper wall behind the sensor oval grill. Check the refrigerator sensor (same part #) as well at the board. Keep in mind that if the Fresh food thermistor is good then I would concentrate on replacing the Motorized Damper Kit part # WR49X10091. This will correct fresh food temperatures. Thank You. Natalie October 09, 2012 for Model Number PDS22SFSBRSS How do you access the Evaporator Thermistor in the bottom of the freezer? So far, I have replaced the Fresh Food Thermistor and the Freezer Thermistor, but can't seem to find out how to get to the top of the evaporator coils. How do you take off that back panel? Is there a clasp? Are there hidden screws? Thank you!
1 Answer Hi. Remove all freezer shelves. Remove the Cover Grille Fan on the upper lt corner of the evaporator cover. Remove the screw in the center of the cover. Then you should be able to remove the back cover WR17X11594 by pulling it from the opening on the left. The thermistor is part # WR55X10025. Thank You Read More...
Richard October 08, 2012 for Model Number PSC23NHPA What should the ohms read if you're testing the thermister without putting it in the glass of water like they say?
1 Answer Hello Richard. At room temp. the resistance would be 1.2 or less ohms resistance. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Joe O October 04, 2012 for Model Number PTS25LBMARCC - GE Profile Arctica - vertical I've replaced the motherboard and defrost limiter thermostat. The heater element shows continuity, so it's still good. I am zeroing in on the temp. thermisters as the source of the problem (my fridge isn't cooling, freezer section is OK). My fridge has three temp. thermisters; 2 in the freezer and 1 in the fridge section. Is it the one in the fridge section that is likely faulty? thank you,
1 Answer Joe, Yes, if there's a faulty thermistor, it would be in the refrigerator compartment WR55X10025, If the freezer is operating properly and maintaining temperature, the evaporator thermister and freezer thermistor are working. The possibility of an intermittent evaporator fan motor WR60X10185 or an issue in the air tunnel WR02X10874 and WR02X10875, there could be ice or some other type blockage in the tunnel, restricting the air flow to the refrigerator compartment.
