The Control Panel is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool built-in dishwashers. It is the control panel located on the front façade, comprising buttons to select cycles and indicator lights showing progress. This interface allows for efficient operation through simple input of wash selections. 

Causes of a failing control panel involve damage to electronic components from moisture exposure over time. Wiring degradation or faulty circuit boards can also disrupt intended functions.

Symptoms of an inadequate control panel include:

Randy, yes the control console fits between the inner door liner and the front door panel, sort of. " The control panel on the KitchenAid KUD01 Dishwasher comes in two versions: a) Split Controls: Top and Front Display and b) Front Display. Both control panels are removed in the same manner. 1. Remove the six (6) screws securing the control panel to the door frame. 2. The control panel will now drop down and be free of the door assembly. The wiring harness will remain connected to the console components."

Mel, In most cases when there are no lights coming on then the issue is caused by a faulty keypad on the control panel. The way to determine if it is an issue with the control panel or the control board is to do a keypad test. The keypad test is checking continuity of certain points on the ribbon harness by using the key chart on the tech sheet which is located under the kickplate of the unit.

Lori, You will want to check to see if there is power getting to the main control board. If the control board is getting power but not sending power out then the main control is bad and would need to be replaced. If the control is sending power to the user interface then the user interface would need to be replaced.
