Questions & Answers

For Lg Dryer Moisture Sensor Bar (Part Number: OEM13335393)

1 Answer

Debbie, There are two(2) metal moisture sensor bars 6500EL3001A for the dryer sensor circuit. When you remove the grille and sensor bar holder, you may want to attach some tape, or large paper clips to the wires to keep them from dropping, falling into the cabinet. Check and clean any debris or corrosion from the holder, then install the metal bars, and check the dryer operation.

Jeremy for Model Number Kenmore Elite 79681582410

Reading online I found that I need to clean the moisture sensors to achieve proper drying. Here's the thing though, I owned a Siemens UltraSense dryer for 11 years prior to purchasing this dryer. Never once cleaned the sensor bar. Ever. There is something wrong with the programming of these dryers, period. Selecting "More Dry" shouldn't shorten the timer. But it does. Maybe the koreans prefer wet moldy clothes? My Siemens still works great, it was just getting overloaded with the quantity that the matching elite washer can put out. So I did clean the moisture bars, it made a difference for 2 weeks. Like hell am I going to tear apart the drier to clean these bars in solvent every two weeks, there must be a better more permanent solution? A smart appliance manufacturer would have factored for the dryer sheet film when calibrating... would they not? Maybe to the extent they would have ran 30 normal loads and then calibrated? I know alot of this rant belongs elsewhere, which once I actually find that elsewhere, it will be there too.

Jeremy, This is not a "new" problem, it dates back to the 70's and 80's, when fabric softener sheets became available on the open market. In your case, if the sensor bars are coated with the chemicals from the sheet, it does not sense the moisture in the clothing properly, and the data to the control board indicates the load is dry and it shortens the cycle and shuts down "early". Not everyone uses softener sheets or liquid softener. It's hard to "calibrate" for something you don't know or may or may not occur. Cleaning the sensor bars with alcohol or a non flammable solvent, is the easiest and quickest way to solve the issue, of course you can replace the bars should you choose 6500EL3001A / 6500EL3001A . A couple of things to check or do to help remedy the issue. Check and make sure the dryer is level in both directions(maybe 1/8 to 1/4 inch higher in the front wont hurt), make sure the dryer isn't being overloaded(never more than 1/2 full). and remove and discard any and all fabric softener sheets when the dryer is unloaded.

Kevin for Model Number dlexx7177wm

I just replaced one of my rollers for the drum. When I put everything back together my dryer would not start. As soon as I push the power button the dryer beeps non stop, says check filter, and will not start. The dryer worked perfectly before I changed the roller, so I know it's something I've done. I took it back apart and checked all switches and fuses with a meter. Do you think there's a chance the control board is bad. Any help is appreciated.

1 Answer

Kevin, Before you replace the control board, Recheck and make sure everything is wired correctly, especially the thermal fuse and sensor on the blower housing. If you haven't yet, check the exhaust vent system and vent hood, for kinks, clogs, and restrictions. Also check the outlet duct under the filter and the blower housing and wheel. restricted air flow will cause the check filter light to illuminate.

Mary, The way to gain access to the filter area would be to remove the front panel of the unit. This will be the best way to initially clean it if it has lots of build up. I am attaching a copy of the service manual to help you with this. To keep this area clean it would be best to get a dryer vent clean kit. This kit is not only for cleaning the duct in the front of the dryer without having to take it apart but is also for cleaning the venting that goes from the back of the dryer to the outside of the home. The dryer vent clean kit would be part number TJRLE202.

Matthew G for Model Number DLEX5680W

I have the LG dryer DLEX5680W and recently the sensor dry settings auto-timer shortens the "time to dry" drastically to the point of not fully drying the clothes. I've ran the tests suggested and ran the smartphone diagnostic tool and no issues were detected. I ensured the vents were properly functioning as well and vacuumed out all that I could. My hunch is this may be a moisture sensor bar issue from what I've read online but I don't see any other comments/questions that have the same issue I'm facing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

1 Answer

Matthew, The moisture sensor bars would possibly be the issue. If you use fabric sheets in the dryer you will want to try to clean the sensor bars with rubbing alcohol and see if that does not correct the issue. If this does not correct then check the wiring that goes between the sensor bars and the control board as the wiring may be faulty.

Hello Mindy. Before ordering any parts, It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly.
