Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Temperature Sensor (Part Number: OEM12406710)

Hello Derrick, If the unit has not been accidentally put into a "forced mode" and hitting the cancel key will not stop the beeping, you will most likely have to replace the control board DA41-00128D. You can test for output from the board to the fan motor to eliminate an issue with the fan motor.

Hello Jose, Since the unit is not designed to run on a GFI, I would try the unit plugged into an outlet that is not on the GFI circuit. If it trips the circuit breaker in the breaker box, there is an issue. If not, it is probably just because the GFI is in the circuit. For a more detailed diagnosis, please include the model number from the units' I.D. tag in future posts. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

David S for Model Number RF18HFENBWW

I just purchased a Samsung French door refrigerator, (rf18hfenbww). I have two questions. One, every where I search, that carry parts for Samsung, this model number can not be found. Is this refrigerator a true Samsung product? And my biggest problem is, it cools perfect and freezes just like it is suppose to, the temps stay right where they are suppose to. But this refrigerator has not stopped running since I bought it four days ago. It does have the inverter compressor, and I have checked the amps with a kill-o-meter and it is never pulling more than 0.70 amps. Is it normal for this refrigerator to run constantly? I am concerned because I have a limited time to be able to return it. Thanks for the help, David

1 Answer

David, This refrigerator is a Samsung unit. With it being a new unit, it may not pull up in a lot of systems yet. As for the issue that you are having. The unit will typically run an average of around 85 to 90% of the time by design. The less it has to start up allows it to be more energy efficient. If the temps are good then it is shutting down as needed.

Lan, There should be a resistance reading through the temperature sensor. At room temperature (71-75 dgrs). the resistance should be 5621 to 5225 ohms resistance. Recheck and reset your meter to the proper selection, if you still read an "open" circuit(no resistance) then replace the sensor and check the wiring and connections.

Jack, The most likely cause for water to build up on the floor of the freezer would be that the drain is clogged. You will want to remove the rear wall of the refrigerator and freezer and check for a clogged defrost drain.

Hi, I have a side by side fridge/freezer that has stopped cooling the fridge side. After some looking I found a chart to read the error codes. According to this chart I have a fridge fan error. One of the tips I found where that it needed defrosting, but after taking off the back wall (inside) I could not see any ice so I dont think that is the problem. I have also mesured the termistor in the feezer (DA32-00006W) and that seems to be reading correctly. The fan on the backside of the unit also seems to be running. Any ideas?

1 Answer

Hello LJ. If the error is the fridge fan motor, then you will need to order and replace that fan motor in the unit.

I am diagnosing a Samsung freezer/fridge. As far as I could tell, is that there is no defrost clock and that this unit is controlled by a sensor and pcb. The problem I have encountered is that the refrigerator side is freezing up the evap. I tested the evap fan and its good just no voltage to it apparently. So I figure I need to order the sensor. So is the only reason the evap fan won't come on is because of this sensor or could the sensor and pcb be bad as well. thank you

1 Answer

Richie, To test the fan motor you will need to test it at the main control board with the doors closed. The fan motor will not work with the doors open. If the evaporator coils are icing up then the defrost heater would most likely be the cause for the issue.

James, the replacement cold control or Supco part number SC1002 is part number TJ90SC1002. We can not verify any other replacement parts as being compatible. Thanks.

Bill, The only component left that would cause the unit to not go into the defrost would be a bad control board, which will need to be replaced.
