Whirlpool RS6755XYW, oven started not heating all the way. Set to 500 and only got up to about 300. Element is being switched on and off, as though it is sensing oven temp. incorrectly. Adjusted the "oven temperature control" via special menu. Was set to +5; I set it to max of +35. After that, oven would heat to 450 when set to 500. Element was nice and red during heating. Removed temperature sensor, Whirlpool # 8053344. Measured 1083 ohms at room temperature. Can the sensor be bad even if room temp. measurement is good? What else could it be?

1 Answer

MSUbully82, It is possible that the oven sensor can be defective even though it shows good at room temp. You will want to reattach the oven sensor and test it with the oven on. Check the sensor and for every 1 degrees that the oven rises you would add 2 ohms of resistance. So for example, if you set the oven temp to 350 you should get a resistance reading when at that temperature of approximately 1629 ohms of resistance.

Soccermom, The issue with the unit would be that the relay for the broil element has stuck and will not allow the unit to shut off. The part that would need to be replaced would be the control board part number WP3196933.

Monica for Model Number RBD275PDQ8

My self cleaning Whirlpool double wall oven is displaying various error codes including F2 and F3. The upper oven, which I use most often is no longer reliable. I'll get it heated, start cooking my food and then the whole think will just shut off, including the clock. So I have resorted to using the lower oven and now the same thing happens; with no warning, I get three or four beeps, and all power is off. I understand that it could be the sensor, and the control panel? Which part should I replace first? Or shall I have an electrician check the circuit? The oven is 14 years old. Thanks for your help!

1 Answer

Monica, The first thing that needs to be checked would be the oven sensors for 1090 ohms of resistance. If the sensors are not in range then the sensor are faulty and would need to be replaced. For the F2 error code it would be an issue of a stuck keypad on the unit. You will want to Check the keypad connector for a firm connection, press cancel and if the error code returns after 60 seconds then replace the keypad, otherwise replace the control board.

Hello Tom. Oven sensor opened. 1. Measure sensor value (between connector pins) between 1000 ? @ 32° F (0° C) and 2697 ? @ 900° F (482° C) (approximately 1080 ? @ room temperature). If measurement does not correlate to real temperature, disconnect power, replace sensor and refer to steps 3-5. Also measure from sensor connector to sensor casing for possible short. 2. Trace wires and connectors to sensor, from control, then from sensor back to control. If all connections made and no wire damage, refer to step 3. 3. Disconnect power for longer than 30 seconds. 4. Reapply power and observe for longer than 1 minute. 5. If failure remains, disconnect power, replace control, then go back to step 4.

Kelly for Model Number RF324PXEN1

I have a Whirlpool Stove and I recently got F3E2 error code. When baking we noticed that the bottom element would heat up then turn off and the broiler element would turn on and stay on. The only way to turn it off was by the fuse box. I purchased the bottom element and a Temp sensor on Sunday from your company and received them on Tuesday (awesome service) got them installed but still having the same problem. Now when we turn the fuse box back on the broiler element comes back on.

Hello Kelly. The part that is bad is the control 6610185. This part has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source or replacement for the part.

Kelly, With this error code and the units broiler coming on and staying on, causing the overheating, the issue sounds like the relay in the control board would be sticking. With this being the issue you would want to replace the control board in the unit.
