Angelak July 15, 2019 We have a Whirlpool Cabrio washer. It would not spin a load of laundry, thinking daughters overloaded the washer. I replaced the shift actuator last night. When I undid the cover to the belt I noticed there was no nut on the bolt for the larger wheel for the belt and that the wheel was out of place in general. I moved it back to a flat position and added a nut. When I got everything set back up and hooked up, I did a diagnostic test and everything went fine. So I added a very small load of laundry and right away when it started on a Quick Wash, the drum started banging around hard all over inside. The drum is spongy on all sides as I tested that and like it was before. HELP! Any idea what this is?!?! Thank you!
1 Answer Hello Angela, without a model number we can only suggest a few general checks, Try running an empty load in a spin cycle and see if it still shakes. The inner tub (clothes basket) on that model line has a water-filled balance ring for unbalanced loads, with the washer off open the lid and check to see if you can move the basket front/back, side to side in side the outer tub, it does move then it has come loose off of its mounting hub, if its secure it may be just the tub suspension rods are weak. Dave June 03, 2019 for Model Number mvwx500xwo The washer will wash and drain, but will not spin. The lid lock flashes, and pushing the cancel or pause button does nothing. The only way to get it to spin and finish the load is to unplug the washer, plug it back in and turn the selector to spin. The washer will spin and finish on it's own. Also, when the washer is off, I noticed there are several of the lights around the selector are on really dim, almost not noticeable unless the room light is off.
1 Answer Hello Dave, You should enter the diagnostics as per the tech sheet and see what fault codes are present. This will direct you to the circuit causing the issue. The tech sheet is in a plastic pouch adhered to the inside of the front panel. Before entering the diagnostics you should turn the dial 2 to 3 turns counterclockwise to reset the control so it can accept a new command. From this point, follow the tech sheet to the fault codes and write them down as you go. This will prevent the possibility of losing the fault codes and having to run the machine long enough for the machine control to pop the codes again. Read More...
Frederick June 03, 2019 for Model Number WTW4950XW2 Going on our 3rd shift actuator in 3 months. First one lasted 2 weeks, second 3 months. Any ideas or is this just poor design. Also can the unit be taken apart and reset manually somehow as this is getting insane.
1 Answer Hello Frederick, the shift actuator is not considered repairable, just replaceable, if it is regularly failing you may want to also replace the Splutch Cam Kit part W10721967 . Read More...
Jeff H May 23, 2019 for Model Number WTW4900BW1 Will part number W10006355 work for my model? I think I accidentally ordered the wrong part.
1 Answer Jeff, The part you will need for your model is W10913953 and the other will not work. Read More...
George S May 11, 2019 for Model Number 110 21302010 kenmore low water washer Will wash and rinse but not spin, lid lock light starts blinking or goes off, can get machine to spin after couple attempts.
1 Answer George, The model number listed is not coming up as being a valid model and would want to access the tech sheet from inside the unit and see if there are any stored error codes. The error codes will give you direction on what to check. Read More...
Joshua April 05, 2019 for Model Number mvwc565f20 Pretty sure the actuator is acting up, was just replaced by the Maytag Man 6 months ago. The agitator will not release from the tub when washing. I can manually unlock it with the actuator underneath the washer and the agitator will move separate of the tub. If I keep this switched at all times so I can at least do laundry until I get it replaced, will it cause issues for the spin cycle?
1 Answer Joshua, It does sound likely that there is a issue with the shift actuator and would recommend putting the unit into diagnostics using the tech sheet and see if there is any error codes stored. If there is a error code then follow instructions on tech sheet for testing as this will guide you to the issue. Make sure that if you replace any parts that you put the unit through calibration mode. Read More...
Scott S February 10, 2019 for Model Number WTW4800XQ2 My tenant called and said the washer pan was full of water, the drum was rotating violently (banging against the side of the housing and the tub hadn't drained, with lots of water still in it. I took off the rear panel and when I disconnected the short tube connecting the pump to the back of the washer about 16 oz. of water flowed out - my guess was that the drain pump failed and that was the residual water left in the drain hose, which then must have drained down to that tube. I removed the pump (no indication of leaking from the seal of the pump to the tub) and tested it (110v attached to the two prongs of the pump) and it spins! Hmm, so with water having backed up to the point of filling the pan I'm trying to figure out what it is - could it be the switch that flips from agitate to drain failed, leaving the washer full of water yet spinning on high thinking it was draining? If so, that is the part I'll buy!! I guess the only other possibility could be a sock got pulled into the drain area below the tub? If that's possible I'll find your video on how to pull up that bottom ribbed cover and stop over again to see if that's it.
1 Answer Scott, If the unit has water in the base pan of the unit then check to make sure that the pressure hose is not clogged causing the unit to overfill some. There will also always be some water left in the bottom of the tub and would probably be about the amount that came out. Also check to see if the leaking is coming from the water valve or from the bottom of the tub. The banging around could be cause by bad suspension rods. Read More...
Jon D February 03, 2019 for Model Number WTW5800BW0 When testing washer spin in manual test mode, the shift actuator will move thru a cycle. But will not stay in the position it needs to be to engage the clutch for spin. The washer will agitate when doing agitation test. Also when trying to calibrate washer I get the indicators I need but when I push start it will not calibrate
1 Answer Jon, For this issue with being unable to put the unit through the calibration then the most likely issue will be a faulty control board for the unit. Read More...
Armand January 25, 2019 for Model Number MVWX655DW0 Replaced shift actuator on Maytag Bravos XL after it failed to reach spinning speed to drain loads at all. Still hasnt spun out properly since but at least better. Month later it is back to soaking wet loads even when dial is switched to drain and spin. What other part could be responsible for this? Thank you in advance
1 Answer Armand, You will want to put the unit into a service diagnostic mode and see if there are any stored error codes. This will guide you to what is going on with the unit and what to test. Read More...
Jeff November 28, 2018 for Model Number MVWC425BW0 Washer cycle is taking >1 hour. Gets through rinse but take long time to move into spin. I replaced the actuator twice, splutch one, and belt once. Calibrate and tests fine. Initial 2-10 loads it is fine then goes back to >1 hour cycle time. Appears the gears on the splutch are not aligned so the actuator can not move full stroke to engage them. If I remove the actuator - I'm unable move the cam lever to engage the splutch. If I rotate the pulley slightly, I can manually and freely engage splutch. Reassemble and works fine are a few cycles and them back to issue.
1 Answer Jeff, Check to see if there are any stored error codes and check to make sure that there is nothing that is caught between the tubs of the unit which would cause this issue. Read More...
