Charlie G. August 15, 2019 for Model Number Whirlpool Trash Compactor GX900QPKB0 On start, the plunger compresses the garbage - reaches the lower limit and changes direction. When the plunger reaches the maximum upper limit the motor continues and doesn't shut off. The directional switch tests OK for continuity and the switch lever appears to function properly.
1 Answer Hello Charlie, If the directional switch WP777811 actuator arm is not bent and rusty, the issue is most likely a bad motor switch. I'm sorry but the motor switch is no longer available for this model without ordering the complete motor assembly W10439651. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Read More...
Steve April 15, 2019 for Model Number KUCC151LSS0 I am pasting my original question and your response. Unfortunately, the On/Off switch was not the issue as I don't have continuity between the contacts in the Off position. In the On position, there is continuity. What else can you suggest could be the issue? The ram will not stop and reverse at the bottom of the compacting cycle. It keeps running and makes a whining sound. I have replaced the top limit directional switch, the power nuts, the drive gears, ramp stops, and the motor. Also, the original actuator pedal has been replaced with the new actuator. Any idea on what to try next? Steve for Model Number KUCC151lsso Answer Steve, it is possible that the start switch WP9871971 does not disengage the momentary start contacts when the unit is turned on. This can cause the unit to create the issue that you are experiencing. This can be tested by testing the contact with the yellow wire to the contact with the violet wire for continuity. When in the off and run state, there should not be continuity. The contacts should only read continuity when the switch is rotated to the start position.
1 Answer Steve, There is a drawer safety switch that could be faulty. Test with a continuity test. The only other possible problem could be in the cycle switch. Make sure the unit is not set to solid pack also. Read More...

Buddy September 16, 2016 for Model Number 665.13633100 We have change the main gear and the driver unit part #882633/4149661. Used a piece of paper as a gage to set the drive gears When the unit is in super pack and the actuator is depressed to come up when it gets to the upper actuator switch the ram won't stop. If it is on normal pack it will stop but when the ram gets to the down stroke it makes a popping noise but it doesn't do it every time. on the normal pack it will keep trying to come some of the time. Looking for some help to trouble shoot and what should we look for . Notice the on the main drive we can pull on the drive gear and it will rise about a 1/16" of less should there be a spacer between the gear keeper or just eh keeper ? Thanks
1 Answer Buddy, Between the motor mounting plate and the main drive gear there should be 2 washers. One of these washers will be flat and the other will be a spring type washer. For the issue of the ram not stopping at the top on the super pack, this would be caused by a faulty cycle switch. The part number for the switch is WP9872161. Read More...
Charles August 01, 2016 for Model Number ZCG3500DSS I disassembled the compactor to replace the drive chain. When I reassembled and operated without bin in place by pushing the activator with a screw driver, it works properly down and reverses and stops when it reaches the top. When I close the bin it operates but does not stop when it reaches the top, but goes down again and reverses. There are five terminals on the switch, could they be connected incorrectly?
1 Answer Hello Charles. On the top limit switch you should have Black with white strip to the top C and Violet across from it on the NC and Orange below the violet on NO. Under the orange will be Yellow on NC. Across from yellow will be Brown on C. Hope this helps. Read More...
