The water and ice dispenser is not working. The flapper valve cycles when the compressor is on. The lights flash on the control panel when the compressor is on. The refrigerator and freezer are working. I have been advised to replace the Low Voltage Board, the High Voltage Board and the water Valve. First, do you agree? Second, if I do replace these boards are they solder or mechincal connections? Third, If I do replace these boards are there any reprograming that needs to be performed and how do I reprogram these boards? What is and how do I override a lockout feature?

1 Answer

Hello Calvin, This is a high voltage power supply issue. The manufacturer has a repair kit part number W10890094. Be aware that the "personality code" is listed on the units' I.D. tag along with the model and serial number. This number must be programmed into the control before the unit will cool properly. As per the technical bulletin: Order and install high voltage control board kit PN 12920710. The kit includes; control board, installation and programming instructions, return label and card for the old part. Note: As with all Refrigerators of this type, the correct “Personality Code” must be programmed into the new control board per the instruction sheet provided. The connections involve no soldering. All connections are spade and/or molex connectors. The lockout feature should be completely covered in the owners use and care guide.

This value should be validated with the Program CODE printed on the unit serial plate. NOTE: If the Program CODE is correct, the Programming Mode is exited by pressing Door Alarm Keypad for 3 seconds. 7.
