This machine control board is the washer's electronic brain, directing the motor, water valves, and cycle timing. Replacing a failed board restores proper control of wash, rinse, and spin functions and helps resolve erratic or non-starting cycles.

  • Coordinates cycle timing and sends power to the drive motor, drain pump, and fill valves
  • Monitors inputs from the door lock and sensors to manage operation
  • Failure can cause the washer not to start, stop mid-cycle, or fail to spin or drain
  • Associated with control-related error codes or intermittent operation
What's included: 1 machine control board Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the appliance before servicing
  • Handle the board by the edges and use ESD protection to avoid static damage
  • Label or photograph wiring; move connectors to the new board one at a time and verify ribbon-cable orientation
  • Mount securely and ensure all harnesses are fully seated before restoring power and running diagnostics per the tech sheet

For Whirlpool Machine Control Board (Washer) (Part Number: OEM18019338)

Mike for Model Number MLG2000AWW

Symptoms - Bleach and Softeners dispenser fail to work or drain. Stops in a spin cycle, drains water in Spin position. Cleaned both cold and hot inlet screens ( Steel) as they were clogged. Spin issue stopping went away. 2-3 week later, Water poured out all over the floor (flood) when door was opened. Timer advances but hot water side stays stuck on when unit goes into spin cycles. When I rotate the timer to spin the water out, it spins out and stops normally. Filter on cold side was dirty but cleaning no help. Able to use washer if I nursemaid it along by tuning off the hot water source or using cold water side only Occasionally requires a few restarts to nursemaid it along though as it just stops. I have it down to an ambiguity group of the Timer , Machine control board, perhaps the pressure switch or the water dispenser valve. We live in Panama, no parts here, need to be sure before I order parts as there is no returning them due to postage issues here. Thanks for any help you can provide ! ~Mike

Mike, This issue would most likely be caused by the machine control board but at this time we are unable to ship outside of the United States.

Cynthia, The most common cause for the door lock to not come on and the no spin or drain would be a wax motor and check the control board for a R11 resistor to see if the resistor is burnt. If so then replace the wax motor and the control board.

Hello Art! Unfortunately, we do not have the parts information on the relays on the control board. Sorry about that!

Hello Gary, On the stacked Neptune, MLE2000AYW, there are tow big molex connectors under the access cover on either side of the door. These are common to lose connections and this is the first place I would check. If the connection giving trouble has been hot it will be easy to locate since the connector will discolor, making the white plastic turn a bit tan or darker. If not, it can be a real chore to locate. If not discolored, it is easiest to troubleshoot the unit using the wiring diagram and an ohm meter, (power off to machine when using the ohm meter to avoid damage to the meter). Looking for the voltage is more dangerous but most technicians prefer this method because when the voltage goes into a component but doesn't come out the other side, you have found the component at fault.

Jane, Faulty timers on this style unit are a rare occurrence. Your first check needs to be at the water valve WP22002437 and hose screens 12001413. and the water levels switch WP22002921 and air dome hose 22002483 for clogs and debris. If the washer machine control board(up inside the dryer cabinet) does not see a change in the water level switch within a certain amount of time, or it doesn't see the motor start to run in either direction, the control board assumes the washer is overfilling and shuts itself off, to elinminate a possible flood. If you have a slow fill due to sediment in the screens, or debris in the air dome hose, or a faulty water level switch, the washer will start and fill for 3 to 5 minutes, then shut down.

Lucy, You're thinking of a different model machine (MAH 3000,4000 or 5500) The machine control board for a MAH6700aww is dependent on the series number ( first two numbers of the serial number) in order to order the correct control.: series 10 =34001488 series 11-13 = 34001479 series14 and after = WPW10273828, You are on track, so don't give up. Good Luck and Thanks

Rick for Model Number MLG2000AWW

I have the MLG2000AWW and it's about 10 years old. It has performed well over the 10 years with only a few problems. This one has me stumped. The washer suddenly will not spin. I have checked the balance circuit.. OK. I have checked the wax motor and made sure it is engaging the spin switch... OK... but we still have no spin. I've downloaded the manual and it says the control board. Is this what you expect as well? Is there anyway to visually inspect the control board to see if there is something wrong with it? Thanks!

1 Answer

Rick, With your description, you need to check the "spin enable switch" on the door latch assembly WP22002162. Once the washer is started in a spin cycle, the wax motor expands and the door is locked, with the red and yellow wire(s) disconnected, check the switch ternminals for a "closed" circuit, with the wires disconnected. Or check for 24 VDC into the switch on the red wire and 24 VDC out on the yellow wire. If the circuit and VDC voltage does not get transported up to the main control board, the washer will not spin. If all's OK, check for loose connections and wires at the multi plug connectors on both sides of the tub assembly, then go up and check the main control board in the right front corner of the dryer cabinet. Thanks and Good Luck
