Byron, We do not have a diagram showing how the spring goes on but there should be a hook on the latch and on the bolt of the latch assembly where the spring would attach.

Mike for Model Number GU2400XTPQ1

I have just replaced the inner door on this Whirlpool dishwasher, as the little curved splash guard on the bottom (keeps water from splashing up into the bottom of the inner door panel, and leaking out through that panel onto the floor in front of the unit) had worn and torn off, allowing splash leakage. The new part seems to be same dimensions as the old one, but now it is very hard to latch the door. I have to push hard enough to get it to latch, that it causes the top quarter of the inner door to curve slightly. This is causing the air vent assembly to pull away very slightly on the bottom, allowing water to leak down past the air vent gasket. All the latch parts seem to be intact, and in good working order. Any idea why the new panel would cause this difficulty in latching? Did not have this problem with the old panel, and all other parts are same ones. The new panel seems to be the common factor here. I've confirmed the cause of this leak. When the door is not latched, the air vent is watertight (poured some water into it and watched- no leak when door is not latched). Any help or troubleshooting suggestions gratefully accepted. Thanks! Mike

Mike, Check and make sure the door panel is mounted to the door frame properly, and aligned to the tub opening, and the dishwasher is level in both directions and properly secured to the cabinet. Check the lower spray arm for free movement and debris in the jet openings, and split seams. You should've replaced the air vent gasket " AP6012303 Inner Door (Also Order Item 6) AP6012299 Gasket, Air Vent ".

Hello Jose. You will need to check for bad wiring or loose connections in the door. If all is good, then you will need to check and see if the door latch on the unit is bad or if the actuator WP8524472 is bad on the unit.

I have the 7 blinking light sequence on the clean light. Have to reset, then it will work if the door is almost slammed shut. Then we may forget after a few times to slam the door and we get the 7 blinking lights again before the cycle finishes again. Can the door latch be bad or the door switch be bad? is there a way to test it? One of the plastic hubs that the screws go in to on the door at the top was broken, i tried to super glue, but don't know if it held or if that might cause it to not "seal" all the way. There are no leaks. Thanks, Gary.

Hello Gary. It does sound like the latch is bad. However, the 7 blinking lights are not the latch. That is a heating error. Either the water coming into the unit is cold or the heater, thermostat, or control board has failed on the unit.

Hello Dan. You will need to disassemble the door and look for broken parts. If none is found, the dishwasher could have shifted and you will need to check the level.
