Berkwood November 10, 2011 for Model Number KUDO1ILBL5 How do you get the cover off of chopper assembly. I took out the one screw but cover would not budge. Should extreme force be used.
1 Answer Berkwood, It should not be that difficult, unless theres some sort of build up on the housing. "3. Remove the screw securing the foreign object protector to the sump base and remove the protector 4. Remove the screw securing the inlet protector to the sump base and lift the inlet protector out 9 in some cases, the opposite side of the protector is "keyed" into a "slot" opposite the mounting screw. 5. Remove the chopper assembly from the impeller shaft and lift it from the sump base. 6. The check valve, located between the wash motor and the drain can be removed with a pair of needle nose pliers." Db October 17, 2011 for Model Number GU3600XTSYO I'm replacing the chopper assembly. I found the blades and hardware damaged and laying in the bottom of the housing. The nylon at the blades is worn smooth and won't "keep" the clip. Two questions: Do I also have to the replace the impeller? And(2) If I'm just changing the chopper assembly, do I have to pull the motor to remove the old nylon connector and install the new; or can I do all this from the top side?
1 Answer Db, Yes, you can install the chopper and screen from the top. Its a tight work area, but can be done. I may be wrong, but if the chopper blade drive lug is worn that bad, I'd expect the impeller shaft to be worn as well. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Beth September 30, 2011 for Model Number KUDP01DLBT Can you tell me if this part has the nylon drive connector included? It is difficult to tell from the schematic. We removed the Chopper from the dishwasher and the nylon connector is broken. Can we buy the nylon drive connector separate from the chopper?
1 Answer Hello Beth. Yes, W10083957V comes with the nylon drive. You can not order this part separately. Hope this helps. Read More...
Lkost August 17, 2011 for Model Number KUDR01TJBL1 You seem to indicate the chopper snaps on to the shaft. Mine doesn't. It barely even gets to the shaft. Could the shaft be broken and too short?
1 Answer Hi Ikost. The chopper blade will screw on the shaft assembly. You Need to try to stop the motor fan blade and also remove (unscrew) the blade assembly off. The chopper assembly part # is W10083957V. Thank you. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Ugo. You will need to remove the lower spray arm and the cover off the sump assembly. Once the cover is removed, you will need to remove the cover over the chopper blade. You can now access the chopper. Pull upward on the blade filter and the chopper W10083957V will lift out of the sum assembly. Reinstall in reverse order. Hope this helps. Read More...
John H July 24, 2011 for Model Number GU1500xtks0 My chopper assembly is getting clogged every 3-4 weeks. The check valve seems to be in good order. We rinse our dishes thoroughly before washing. The clog material seems to be mostly lint and some hair. Do you have any suggestions about how to correct this?
1 Answer Hi John. Check your drain hose and make sure it was installed correctly. It should enter in the side of the cabinet at the top rear corner and then have a loop clamped to the uppermost part of the inside of the cabinet. Then it should be taught into the plumbing connection under the sink. You need to make sure the hose and/or the plumbing connections are not clogged or restricted. Your drain hose may be the reason you are back filling into your sump and re clogging over and over. Is there anyone else in the home doing washes different then yourselves? I hope this helps. The chopper assembly is part # W10083957V. Thank you. Read More...
Gerry June 15, 2011 for Model Number DU1100XTPQ3 I removed a chopper assembly(AP3039186) from my dishwasher (DU1100XTPQ3) for cleaning as it was plugged.(used a toothpick on previous cleanings with assembly remaining in place) I think it needs replacement as it's the third time I've cleaned it in a month. This time I removed it from the pump connector and am not sure how to pop it back in place.
1 Answer Hello Gerry. You will snap the coupler onto the motor shaft, and the round disc sits in the grove in the sump assembly. These snap into place. Hope this helps. Read More...
Joe June 02, 2011 When I disassembled my Kitchenaid dishwasher, I found the chopper blade off of the impeller. Not sure how this is supposed to go back. When it is installed in the pump assembly does the chopper blade sit behind the screen or in front of the screen? If it sits in front of the screen, what keeps it on the impeller shaft.
1 Answer Hello Joe. It sits in front on the screen, and the screen sits in a slot in the sump assembly, holding the impeller onto the shaft, and locking the tabs onto the shaft. If it is broke, you will need to replace the chopper assembly W10083957V. Hope this helps. Read More...
Augy April 14, 2011 for Model Number GU630XTLQ1 Does the chopper assy just snap on shaft or is there a clip that secures it. The serviceman tells me that the shaft is worn out and wants to sell me a complete pump assy. Is he right?
