This electronic control board is the washer's primary control. It manages cycle timing and routes power to key components so the unit starts, runs, and completes cycles reliably. What it does:

  • Coordinates cycle selection, timing, and overall washer operation
  • Monitors inputs and directs outputs to components as programmed
  • May resolve issues like no start, unresponsive controls, cycles that won't advance, or random shutdowns
  • Can be associated with error codes or intermittent operation caused by a failed control
What's included:
  • One electronic control board
Install notes:
  • Unplug the appliance before servicing; verify power is disconnected
  • Use ESD protection and handle the board by the edges only
  • Photograph/label all wire connectors to ensure correct reassembly

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Electronic Control Board (Main) (Part Number: OEM18035493)

Hello John, An F-06 fault code on a duet washer indicates a drive motor tachometer error. This means that the control is unable to properly detect motor speed and the machine will shut down. If the fault code occurs, you need to check the connections between the drive motor tachometer and the motor control unit and between the motor control unit and the main control unit. The motor can have a bad tachometer circuit, the motor control unit can be bad and the harness can be pinched shorted, or intermittently broken, (wire broken inside the insulation causing the problem to be intermittent.

Hello Primo, Commuication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly. Possible Causes / Procedure 1. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 2. Check wire harness connections to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU). 3. Check the drive system for any worn or failed components. 4. Plug in washer or reconnect power. 5. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic test or any cycle. 6. Check the MCU by looking for operations of the drive motor. 7. Check the drive motor for powered rotations. 8. Check that the serial harness at the MCU is not mounted upside down. The wires should be to the left when facing the MCU connectors.

Hello Paige, The F06 error code indicates a Drive motor tachometer error. You will want to check to make sure that the shipping bolts, spacers and cables are removed. Unplug washer and check the wire harness connections between drive motor and motor control unit. ALso check harness between Motor control unit and central control unit. Make sure that there are no broken or damaged wires. Also check the connectors for corrosion or being dirty. Plug back in and check the mcu by looking for operations of the drive motor and check the drive motor for powered rotations.

Hello Mike, The F-02 fault code is for a long drain. The service manual says this: Long Drain If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes, the water valves are turned off and “F/02” is flashed. Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display. NOTE: After 4 minutes the “Sud” error will be displayed, then 4 minutes later the F/02 error code will be displayed. Potential Causes • Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked • Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running. • Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects • If the above does not correct the problem replace the pump. SUDS LOCK (Overdose of Detergent detected during the Wash Cycle) The motor control unit senses a suds lock condition by analyzing the current draw on the drive motor. If “Sud” is displayed a potential suds lock is detected. This may signify a bad pump, an extra heavy load, excessive detergent, or excessive suds. Most likely you have debris in the drain pump 280187. This will generate both codes. First you need to discontinue the power supply to the unit. Then remove the bottom panel off of the washer. Remove the big screw in plug from the front of the pump assembly. If the machine has water in it, you may want to have a bucket handy to catch what you can. Most of the time, clearing any debris from the sump area in this way will solve the issue. In other cases, the pump requires replacement.

Hello Ramon. Check and make sure all the connections on the unit are good and tight. According to the error code you provided, the F11 code is a loss of communication between the motor and the MCU. If the motor is working, and the wires are good on the unit, you will need to replace the MCU W10756692 on the unit.

Hi Jon. The F-11 code is MOTOR CONTROL UNIT ERROR :The Motor Control Unit has internal failure. Part # W10756692. If failure occurs during high-speed spin the door unlocks after 3 minutes. This error code is only shown in Diagnostic test. Possible Causes/Procedure- Verify the shipping system including shipping bolts and spacers are removed, and power cord out of the unit.- Check if washer is on a dedicated circuit. Other devices on same circuit can create line noise and cause this issue.- Unplug washer or disconnect power- Check the neutral feed to the MCU and CCU from the AC line filter. - Check all wire harness connections between the Motor & MCU, and MCU to CCU, are not broken or wires detached and connector internal pins are visible.- Make sure that all the connectors are fully seated.- Plug in washer or reconnect power cord.- Verify the unit operation by running the Diagnostic Test cycle. See page 5.- After the diagnostic test has finished, unplug washer or disconnect power cord and wait for 15 seconds. Now for the HF code is not existing so far. They may have a PF code which is power failure. Reset your circuit breaker. Motor part # WP8182793. Thank You.

Hi Parker. F70 code =If a Central Control Unit Heartbeat Failure is displayed, no communication is detected from the Central Control Unit (CCU) to the User Interface. Possible Causes/Procedure Check for continuity of the User Interface harness. Check wire harness connections to the User Interface and the CCU. Replace User Interface if drum is rotating. Replace Central Control Unit if drum is not moving. F71 code=If a Central Control Unit Heartbeat Failure is displayed, no communication is detected from the User Interface to the Central Control Unit. User interface control is part # WPW10248065. Main control board is part # WPW10248067. The C:00 is the door lock code. Check the door lock system and the wires going to the parts for tight connections. This part is part # WP8183270. It is a common issue that you may end up needing both elect. devices since they are feeding one another information. Possible Causes/Procedure Check for continuity of the User Interface harness. Check wire harness connections to the User Interface and the Central Control Unit. Replace User Interface if drum is rotating. Replace Central Control Unit if drum is not moving. Thank You.
