For Whirlpool Dishwasher Control Board (Part Number: OEM18044859)

David T. for Model Number KUDK02CRBS1

First, my dishwasher started stopping in the middle of cycles, and sometimes the lights on the control panel would blink rapidly (no pattern). When this happened, I couldn't even get a cycle to start again. I changed out the control board, it worked fine for 2 days, and then the problems started up again. I'm thinking it's the control panel at this point, but I haven't been able to run the diagnostic to test it since I don't know where the thermistor is (I think I'm supposed to plug/unplug it twice). Is it accessible from the front (toeplate area) or do I have to take the whole dishwasher out to get to it? Thanks!

Hello David, The thermistor is accessible from the front when the kick panel is removed. From what your describing, I would check the polarity of the wiring as the polarity is very important to the electronic control. Also check that the wire nuts are tight and haven't been getting hot. I know this is aggravating but you should check the gauge of the wiring to the unit. Minimum gauge is 14/2 with a ground. The only reason I mention this is that I have seen the same situation several times and these are issues that I found to be at fault. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello Andy. Check and see if the float is stuck in the up position on the unit. If so, you will need to remove anything under the float, or clean the float shaft.

Hi SR. Use a volt/ohm meter part #@ MA-DM1 to assist you in your diagnostics. Use the supplied wiring diagram in the toe kick panel or in the control panel area to flolloe the wiring from the junction blox ,up through the switches and to the board through the fuse. If you have the power up to the board with the latch tripped, then yes you need to replace the control panel part # WPW10084141. If you already replaced the thermal fuse then just remove all body static by discharging a few times on the bare metal frame a few times. Note all wiring. Onl;y replace one connection at a time. User the tech sheet for the wiring diagram. The noise concerns me that you have a dirty pump and sump assy. See if there is a bone or debris holding the chopper blade assy or the impeller seal assy tight. We are here to assist. Thank You.

Hello Charles. If all the wires are good, and the dispenser is new, then the control board WPW10084141 is bad and will need to be replaced in the unit. Hope this helps.

I have tried to do all the testing that you suggested only to not have any luck. My problem is as follows. When pressing Cancel/Drain it starts for 2 minutes then stops . If I try pressing start if just continues to flash and doesn't fill up and clean. 9 months ago I had this problem and the control board was replaced. This time I guess I will replace it my self. I believe it's part AP4309110 but I'm not sure. On the part that seems to be defective it says P/N W10084141B or FL0291001OB on the back. Are these numbers the same as part # AP 4309110 that you suggest I replace . I just want to order the correct Control Board. Thanks for your help. Jim

Mark, The most likely issue for your complaint, is a defective control panel/keypad assembly WP8558202. The manufacturer reccomends you test or replace the control panel and if the problem persists, then the control board. Thanks and Good Luck

Andy, Before you replace the control board, you need to check the optical sensor WPW10705575 and make sure there are no suds developping in the tub from the rinse agent, or detergent. If the sensor does not produce the correct readings to the control board, it will conduct an "APF" cycle, until the sensor is satisfied. You can remove the sensor from the bottom of the pump housing and check for deposits that may have built up on it. Thanks and Good Luck

The 'normal' light blinks constantly on my whirpool gold . No break in the blinking pattern. Dishwasher does not work and unplugging it hasn't helped. Help is GREATLY Hello Melissa. Here are the instructions from the manufacture. Hope this helps. A rapidly blinking LED over one of the keys of the keypad (or sometimes a “dead” keypad/console) indicates one or more key switch lines are stuck or shorted on either the control or the keypad. To determine which one, do the following test: 1. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power. 2. Open console and disconnect the keypad ribbon connection from the control (at P1). Put console back together. 3. Plug in dishwasher or reconnect power. 4. With door latched, disconnect and reconnect thermistor or OWI sensor two times in less than 6 seconds. 5. Wait 10 seconds, then monitor the control’s response to the thermistor: ?If the control is OK (no longer sees shorts with the keypad unplugged), it will respond by running service diagnostics. Listen for it to begin filling after it concludes the 5–10 second display test at the beginning of the service diagnostics cycle. Check and/or replace the keypad if the control responds OK. ?If the control is not OK (still sees shorts with the keypad unplugged), then it will NOT respond to the thermistor at all and will remain off after 10 seconds go by. Make sure the keypad is unplugged for this test. Confirm that all other connections are made, the console and door are reassembled, power is back on, and the door is latched; then repeat steps 1-5 above. If still no response, replace the control. I did this diagnostics and I've got code d3 the 05 the 16 with normal light and heated dry then the dishwasher start doing the 16 minute cycle but I have the fuse blow up after wile and the wire heated the when the dishwasher stoped it give me on the dash like time delay with 1H 2H 3H till 9H then it stoped again with the normal light blinking any help sombody told me to replace the termistor.any help

Hello Jean. Make sure the door switches are good on the unit. If so, you will need to replace the control panel WP3385741 on the unit. You can try removing the ribbon cable and cleaning it, but if the problem continues, you will need to replace the control panel. Hope this helps.

I have the whirlpool gold quiet partner iv that is only 3 1/2 years old. The pots and pans setting has been a constant flashing green light and sometimes adaptive wash and normal wash will flash with the pots and pans light for a total of three flashing lights at one time. The machine has been reset several times and i have had two different appliance techs come over to try and fix it and end up leaving with no fault found. The machine will work but will stop in between causing me to have to press random buttons to get it to start working. what needs to be replaced, the panel or the board???....please help.....thanks

Hi. Use the supplied service manual in the toe kick or in the control panel area. It will lead you to the diagnostic code which tells the circuit that is effected. Make sure all wires are tight and clean. The most common reason of the constant blinking is that the Optical Water indicator (turbidity sensor) is either sensing the unclean water or the thermistor is out of value. Make sure that you run the water at the sink while loading it to fill with a fresh hot wash. Incoming temperatures have to be at least 120°, if not then you need to get a qualified plumber to raise it. Test the sink tap water with a thermometer. This effects the cleaning. It will benefit you to use the dishwasher magic monthly to clean internal pump and externally inside of the tub. Use a wet ship vac to disassemble the unit down to the chopper blade and flush out the wash arms and parts under the sink. Replace as necessary. These blinking lights can be because your unit is too dirty and the sensors is having a hard time... This cleaning will insure the proper water pressure to all wash arms. Let us know what evolves from there or if this cleaning repairs the codes. It will be a lot cheaper then throwing in a board. Thank You.
