My dishwasher stopped with water left in the bottom. I can press the Normal, then the Start, then shut the door. After a few seconds I can see the Start blinking, and hear a faint clicking sound. I open the door, press the blinking Start - it goes solid on, then close the door. Again, after a few seconds it begins blinking. The door switch tests OK and the fuse tests OK. All the buttons/LEDs seem to respond OK. Laying out the panel I pressed Normal, then Start (with the door switch wedged closed with a small piece of wood). After a few seconds the Start light began blinking in harmony with the clicking sound. I traced the "clicking" to a solenoid (?) on the corner of the control board. So... does this indicate a bad control board?

Hello Eli. The unit overheated. You will need to replace the fuse W10258275 and the harness with the fuse. It is the problem with the unit. Hope this helps.

I've noticed a smell of something burning in my dishwasher. After a while, the start/resume light was blinking and the dishwasher would not work. I've opened the panel and replaced the fuse (bi-metal). The connector with the brown wire from the door latch was severely burnt, at the point that the circuit board was also black, but no signs of anything else in the board burnt. Replacing the fuse did not solve the problem. I've tested for bad contact, but removing and re-attaching every single connector and the machine started working, but stopping at the 90's cycle. It runs erratically, and the smells intensifies as it stays on. I've ran the test (Diagnostic Cycle) and as I've progressed manually by pressing Start/Resume and noticed the smell intensified. At this point, I'm not sure how to check if the problem is the circuit board, or the latch, for example... or any other part.

Eduardo, Check and make sure the water level in the bottom of the tub is proper, the water should be touching the bottom of the heater element(at least). If the water level is too low, or the water is not staying in the tub, during the cycle, The heater will produce and odor and could cause the electric system to overheat and cause the wires to singe. Good Luck and Thanks

Hi. My Kitchen aid dishwasher is completely dead. No power, no lights. Power from the outlet is ok. There are 2 harness wire connectors plugged into the control board from the top. One has 4 wires & the other has 3 wires. One wire connector in each of the two is burnt. The connector plastic housing (the end of the harness that plugs into the control board) has partially melted. I checked for continuity at the control board prongs and it's ok. So I bought individual wire connectors to replace the connectors on all 7 wires and plugged them back in (this way I don't have to buy the complete wire harness with the plastic housing at the end). Dishwasher is still dead! Any suggestions of what caused the connectors to burn and what to do next?

Hello Eil. Check and see if the thermal fuse W10258275 is bad. If so, it will prevent the unit from working properly. Also, replace the wires sent with the fuse with the new fuse. Hope this helps.

Starting about 2 weeks ago I started to smell burnt electronics and opened up the panel to see if I could notice anything amiss. I could find no evidence of darkened circuits but the smell was coming from the circuit board. I put it back together and it worked fine with no noticeable smell. Last night it died altogether and now nothing works, no lights, nothing. I've tried the reset option with the sani and dry buttons, and confirmed continuity across the thermal fuse. Do you agree that it is the circuit board? Thanks in advance.

Brady, Could you verify the model number. I could find no parts or service information with the model number you supplied. With your style dishwasher, you should first check and make sure you have a polarized, grounded 120 VAC power supply to the dishwasher. Check and insure there are no loose connections at the junction box, or the thermal fuse. Then, reset the control " SERVICE DIAGNOSTICS CYCLE NOTES NOTE 1. To invoke the Diagnostics Cycle, perform the following key presses or actions in less than 6 seconds while in standby: Heated Dry ? Normal ? Heated Dry ? Normal ¦ To rapid advance one interval at a time, press the Start/Resume key. ¦ Invoking Service Diagnostics clears all status and last ran information from memory and restores defaults; It also forces the next cycle to be a sensor calibration cycle." The control board should be your last option "PROBLEM: Won’t Run or Power Up (“Dead” Keypad/Console) ¦ No operation ¦ No keypad response ¦ No LEDs or display : No power to unit or bad connection. Loose connections in dishwasher power up circuit or between keypad(s) and control. Door switch not making contact: ¦ Faulty door latch assembly. ¦ Faulty door switch Opened Bi-Metal attached to control. Multiple open or shorted circuits in keypad. Faulty control. As you can see, there are several things you need to check before you replace a control board. Good Luck and Thanks

Hello! The "normal" cycle led light keeps blinking and the dishwasher would not start with any program. Once I unplug it and plug it back on (after at least 20-20 min) sometimes it would start and run a washing program normally. Once finished, if I try to run it again after some hours, the led starts blinking again. I have been told it should be a short in the electronic control board but if so why it works sometimes? If it is completely shortened it should continue blinking. after turning off and back on the breaker, the cycle seems to work fine so i don't see any issue with the heater since water is correctly heated and everything is clean at the end. When I tried to run another cycle it went on blinking mode again. It seems to me more an electronic issue than an hardware problem: how can I be sure that is the control board? Is there anyway I can reset the board to be sure that is problem, without substituting it? Thanks.

Hello Marco. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the control panel WP3385731 is bad and needs to be replaced. If the buttons are non responsive and the light flashes, the tech sheet inside the unit will advise you to replace the control panel. Hope this helps.

Whirlpool Clean light blinks seven times then pauses then blinks seven times, etc. Manual says to push "Normal", "Heated Dry", Normal, "Heated Dry", which puts the dishwasher into diagnostic mode. Goes through testing everything lights flashing, and then resets. Dishwasher works for a few cycles or washes and then the Clean Light blinks again and we go through the same sequence. The dishwasher doesn't seem to clean very well anymore either. its only about 4 years old. We had a power surge which fried the microwave so am wondering if the control board is messed up? Thanks for any response!!!

Hello Alan. You will need to test the heater W10518394 and the thermostat WP661566. They should read closed for continuity. The code is for low water temperature. If both are good and the heater is working, you will need to get the water hot at the sink before starting the dishwasher. Hope this helps.
